Hi I'm Roy

I am an husband, a father of 4, grandfather of 1, daily bus commuter, and accountant. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married for 22 years to my high school sweetheart and it gets better each year. We have four wonderful kids and one grandson who is a year old. I love to read (mainly science fiction) and have a Bachelors degree in accounting. I love my job (took me a long time to actually figure out what I wanted to do, but enjoyed the journey to get there), even with a 2 hour commute on the bus each way. My favorite hobby is wood carving. I've carved bark houses. diamond willow canes, Christmas tree ornaments, relief carvings, and more. Its a great way to relax from the analytical side of work.

Why I am a Mormon

I was between 9th and 10th grades and had made a decision that my current path in life I was taking was not right. I had tried the 'rebellion' thing and was realizing it was doing me no good. With that attitude I left with my mother for a train trip to see family. We had moved from Nebraska almost 10 years before and still had family there. On the train ride I might someone my age and we talked and played games for the first leg of our trip to Boise. We said our goodbyes and agreed to keep in contact. She had mentioned she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. We discussed this in letters over the next few weeks and shortly after I got back home to Washington state I agreed to meet the missionaries to learn more. During these meetings and discussions of what the church believed, I always felt like i wasn't learning something new, but rather remembering things I already knew. It felt right and brought clarity where I had been confused. I joined shortly afterwards and still find clarity in my life because of what I continue to learn.

How I live my faith

I do my best to follow Christ's teachings each day. I stay involved at church by serving where I'm asked and helping others when I can. I love opportunities to take my children with me when someone needs help at church (moving, yard work, a listening ear, ....) because it helps my children learn that by helping others we're doing what Christ did and can find an everlasting happiness.
