Hi I'm janette

I'm a mormom

About Me

I married by childhood sweetheart 38 years ago. I was so blessed to find the man of my dreams when I was 12 years old. The day I met him I came home and told my mother that I had just me the boy I was going to marry. She laughed and promised me that I would meet many more boys that I would think was the right one before I found the one I would marry, but I knew in my heart I had found my eternal companion. He and I have been best friends ever since that day. We have been through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in our marriage but because our marriage has been build on trust, faith, and our love for our Father in Heaven the burdens have been made light and our love and bond between each other has grown stronger each passing day. I can truly say each day that I love him more than the day before. He treats me like a queen and he is my king. We have been blessed with 7 children, 4 beautiful girls, and 3 amazing son's and 11 precious grandchildren. We moved to Arizona in 1987 and are blessed to have all of our children living here around us.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my husband and I were born and raised in Orem Utah. I was raised by wonderful loving parents who loved me unconditionally. I was taught from the time I can remember the difference between right and wrong and what choices would bring me the most happiness. My parents however, were wise and afforded me the opportunity to choose for myself. They patterned their parenting after our Heavenly Father who loved us so much that he was willing to send us here to earth where we could learn through our own mistakes. He didn't leave us alone to figure it out but gave us scriptures to guide and direct us. He also gave us commandments and promised us that if we kept his commandments we would always have his spirit to be with us to guide and direct us. We were not promised that life would always be perfect but that He would be there for us, and give us peace in times of need. Another principle that I was taught as a child was to serve others. When we are in the service of our fellow man we don't have time to worry as much about our own problems. When we turn our thoughts towards others less fortunate we are brought to a remembrance of our blessings, and our burdens will not seem so heavy. My parent were always serving others. They suffered the loss of 2 of their children in 2 separate but tragic ways. Through acts of kindness to others their grief was lightened and their testimonies strengthened. They brought joy and happiness to our home as well as others. I am so thankful that I was raised with this knowledge and to be taught that I am a daughter of God and that I was sent here to earth to learn right from wrong, to be obedient to the laws and commandments, and to let faith hope and charity be my guide. Most of all I know that my Savior Jesus Christ hung and died for me on a cross so that I could learn from my mistakes and be forgiven for my weaknesses.Through him I know some day I will return back with him to live together with my family in joy and happiness.

How I live my faith

As parents Chip and I have tried to follow the example set for us by our parents. We have learned through out our lives that when we make bad choices, natural consequences will follow and often times bring much sorrow. We also found that if we prayed to our Heavenly Father for guidance even when it wasn't the answer that we wanted, if we had the faith to follow our promptings things always turned out right. It has been through this process of learning that my testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ and of the truthfulness of his restored gospel has been rooted. My goal has always been to teach our children these same principles. My family means everything to me. Their happiness is my happiness, their sadness is mine. We have always tried to have fun in our home. As a family we enjoy getting together and playing games or going together on vacation. Some of my most cherished memories have been on trips together, from a camping trip where it rained and poured the entire time and we ended up staying in our tent the whole weekend playing games, to a cruise with all of our children and grandchildren. We often times go to Rocky Point Mexico and rent a house on the beach, there is nothing that brings me more joy than to sit on the beach with my family around me and watch the little ones play in the sand and be chased by the waves. We have often joined together to serve others as well as each other. We can always depend on each other in times of need whether it be joining together to sing happy birthday, helping someone move, crying with someone over a disappointment or pain, playing together on a beach or kneeling together in family prayer. My joy is my family. Living as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has taught me what is truly important in this life. I have learned by living the principles that I was taught from a young age that I will have the strength to make it through life's challenges and find true joy and happiness here on earth.
