Hi I'm Brenda

My husband and I grew up in Port Orchard, WA and Joined the church when I was 21.

About Me

I have been married for 25 years to my husband which I met when I was 12 years old since then we have raised two children my daughter and son and we have grandchildren which are the joy of our lives. I am a medical social worker and work in a local hospital. I love to read, play with my grandchildren, horseback ride when I get the chance and I am a reality tv show junky.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a young mother my daughter was 4 and my son was one, my husband and I had no real good role models in the gospel area, we never opened a Bible, never said a prayer, but we knew in that time and age we had to have a safe and stable support system for our children. My husband stayed up one night and watched a video called, "Families can be toghter forever" that video prompted an amazing change in my families lives. When the missionary came to deliver that video I was not sure I wanted to join the church, you hear rumors and "comments" about mormons but I had no first hand knowledge really. The missionarys invited us to church after coming to our home and talking a couple of times and I took my children. It was very different but during that meeting my daughter started a fever which progressed thru that hour and I was scared. When my daughter was a baby she had been in and out of the hospital so many times with fevers sometimes hospitalized for them, I knew I had to go soon and maybe have another trip to the hospital. I told the missionarys this and they told me if I asked them they could give her a "priesthood blessing" I had no idea what that was but I agreed. It was a prayer and a placing of hands on my daughters head and they prayed she would be healed with the Lords blessing. When they where done I said, "ok now we have to go, I have no idea if we have to go to the hospital soon." The missionary said, "why dont you let her go to primary (sunday school for children) and see how she does". She had no medicine and within 30min a fever of 102. was gone. My daughter has never had a fever again and she is 23. We where baptised on Easter Morning 1 week later.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have been active in the church since our baptism and we love the church, we have served in the church in many ways. We have taught the youth from ages 18 months to teenagers. My favorite thing is to go the a girls youth camp once a year where our girls aged 12-18 go camping for a week and learn about the Lord and just be safe and have fun. Right now I work with the 18month old toddlers which is very busy but so much fun. I really love this gospel its more then just going to church for an hour on sunday its a life style of living clean, serving others and loving Jesus Christ and his prophets that have great blessing if we only listen and read their messages. I know the Lord lives, he blesses my life and my families life. We have not always had an easy time and sometimes our children struggle with their knowledge of the Lords plan for them but as their parents we know that the church is there to help guide and protect us all and that is priceless. I believe in a Heaven Father, and Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost and each and eveyone of those have blessed my life in so many ways.
