Hi I'm Kevin

I've spent my life in the Southwest United States, recently in Arizona, I love the outdoors , Scouting, my family and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a Finance Manager by profession but I love the outdoors. I camp, fish, snow ski, water ski, sail, and I love backpacking. My favorite personal times have been in the mountains on peaks with views for a hundred miles in every direction. Looking down on breathtaking vistas of lakes, pine forests, Elk herds and other wildlife always gives me a sense of what a great and beautiful world we live in. Hiking with a 40lb pack for ten or fifiteen miles a day up incredibly steep moutain sides is worth the labor to take in sights that I know only a handful of people will ever see in their lifetime. My outdoor experiences also help me have a greater appreciation and love for my family. As I think about all God's creations I realize that it would mean nothing without the love of my wife and children. I'm also thankful that they have developed an appreciation for these same beauties.

Why I am a Mormon

Everything I've experienced in life has strengthened my faith in a living God. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints my whole life. I've always had a belief in the Saviour and known (to different degrees) that there is a living God - my Heavenly Father who knows who I am and wants me to be happy. My life has been filled with plenty of bumpy roads and challenges but I have always felt the presence of my Heavenly Father. His direction through living prophets has helped me to strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ and to help navigate my life (and my family's) through all the uncertainty and challenges that exist.

How I live my faith

For me, living my faith is not just a couple hours of church on Sunday. First, above all, it's really trying to live the principles that Christ taught his disciples. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints provides many opportunities for me to serve the community that I live in and to serve others in the church. Most LDS congregations sponsor a chartered Boy Scouts of America unit. I was a Scout Master for 12 & 13 year old boys for about ten years. What a great opportunity to see young men learn leadership and other life skills and to appreciate the outdoors like I do. Usually when young men leave their electronic games and gadgets at home and go into the wilderness they learn theres a lot more to life than they realized. I continue to teach the youth in our congregation today. I want them to know the importance of having faith in a living God and knowing that they can have the same direction and purpose in life that I've enjoyed.
