Hi I'm Marie

I'm from Alaska. I like hiking, fishing, playing sports, piano, and guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying Exercise and Wellness at BYU. I love to try new things! The hardest part is finding the time to do it all. Growing up, I loved basketball, ultimate frisbee, running, piano, hiking, and baking. But I couldn't stop there. My newfound loves are guitar, soccer, tennis, volleyball, racquetball, sewing, yoga, snowboarding, singing, and fishing. I don't care if I'm the best at any of these hobbies. But I do care about constantly improving myself and exploring everything that life has to offer. I never want my fears to stop me from learning a new skill. I don't care if I make a fool of myself. That's what life is about! I didn't learn how to snowboard until I was 20 years old. I'm quite sure I looked ridiculous going down the mountain the first time while little toddlers were speeding past me, but now I know how to snowboard.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel peace by living the Mormon standards. There are so many good things that life has to offer, so many things I want to learn and do, but there are also a lot of enticing distractions that try to take us away from those things. Living the Mormon life keeps me free from addictions and unnecessary sorrows. I know that Christ wants us to be happy and free. He wants us to grow and reach our full potential. I know that He suffered for our sins so that we could have the strength to give them up.

How I live my faith

I love attending church meetings each Sunday. For me it is a much needed pick-me-up after a rough week of school and work. It gets me pumped and ready for another week yet ahead. I usually end up playing the piano at some of the meetings. I love this because I don't own a piano and it's often the only time I have to practice. I am also assigned a couple of women from church to visit each month. It's been a great way to connect with people and make new friends.
