Hi I'm Desiree

I was born in N.Z., raised in Australia, studied in Hawaii for over three years. I'm an English language teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just like any other person in Australia. I like to have a good laugh, I like to have a good time, and I like getting to know people. I'm not married, neither am I a mum, but one of the best places I love to be at is with my family. We sing together, we can have a good jam session together and we like watching all the old disney movies together. I love to do any sport, whether I'm good or bad at it, I know I'll just have a good laugh at myself in the end. Besides all that, I studied and graduated with a B.A. in TESOL and just love teaching English. I find it very rewarding to help others be able to upgrade their skills in English as our world and younger generations heavily use English. Being able to help them to communicate with others as well as understand is something I love to do. One of my passions is to do Maori Performing Arts also known as 'kapahaka'. I grew up doing kapahaka and was able to work for over three years in the Polynesian Culture Centre where I had the opportunity to get back to my roots and learn more about my culture. My love for my people and my culture increased as I immersed myself in it and what made it more great was the links of how my culture could be related to my other love, which is the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm not a convert to this church. My parents were actually members of the church before I was born and through their example, I knew that I wanted to be like them. I did everything I was taught because to me, it just made sense to do those things. Now that being said, I'm not perfect. I've made mistakes but through those times, the one thing I knew was that through Jesus Christ, I could get back on the road that could lead me to a kind of happiness that I could forever have. It was tough but through that belief, I was able to make the right choices that helped me get back on the road that will help me return to my Heavenly Father. I have felt my Saviour, Jesus Christ and his love for me during those hard times and I know if I and everyone can follow his teachings, it will lead to a rewarding and enriching life. Far better than what this world could give any of us.

How I live my faith

At the moment, I am a missionary for this church and excited to be able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ that has been restored to this earth through the prophet Joseph Smith.
