Hi I'm Steve

I'm married to an angel, I'm a father of 8 wonderful children and 2 sweet grandchildren, I help people all day and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and children. I know that sounds quaint but it is true. We like to camp, go for walks and go for long road trips to visit family. We live in the North Western US which is a beautiful part of the world. I like to backpack with my kids and the scouts. I have great parents and growing up as a kid we did many of the same things. It doesn't seem to need to be tremendous adventure just spending time together that is what seems to matter the most. Some people may see my life as mundane however you should know that I am one of the luckiest guys alive. I live a life full of happiness and joy despite the normal hardships that enter all of our lives. I don't know why but God has richly blessed me I just hope I can give back the love that has been given me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the church as child by friends of mine in a cub scout pack. My family was not the most conventional or functional in the world. However my parents gave all that they had and taught me many of the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My parents each had friends that were Mormons and my mom and dad invited the missionaries into our home when I was about 13. We were happily semi active in the Baptist church. However as the missionaries taught us the gospel of Jesus Christ, when they talked of the restoration of the gospel to the earth in these the latter days well my heart was just so full. It felt so peaceful I felt love swelling in my heart. It was not that what we believed was wrong it is just that it added so much more to my faith. As I learned more of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ I felt feelings that were profound and very real, I could not deny it. Even though I was only 13 at the time I remember feeling strong yearnings to know the answers to life. Why are we here on this earth, what is the purpose of our existence and where does this life lead to. I have seen some of the heat ache and misery of this world and I felt that there must be more to life than living a life of quiet desperation. I have witnessed over the past 40 years the hand of God in my life as I have tried my best to live true to the profound truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus is the very Christ, the Redeemer of all mankind. He has lifted my hands up as they have hung down. It is through his mercy and love that I have found forgiveness for my sins. He has healed me with his love. The brilliant light of truth that He has brought into my life has illuminated my path in times of darkness. The Holy Ghost has brought peace in times of sadness and strength and understanding in times of challenge and trial. I know that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ and His church and kingdom has been restored to the earth in our day.

How I live my faith

I have tried to be active in my faith and I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve the Lord. I have been blessed to serve the Lord as a full time missionary and I served in the south island of New Zealand. Truly it was 2 of the best years of my life. I learned so very much as I tried my best to serve my Heavenly Father. I met so many wonderful people and I was able to witness the mighty changes the gospel of Jesus Christ brings to people. Among many instances I saw a young man whose life was in a horrible tail spin at a relative young age turn his life completely around because of his faith in Jesus Christ. I saw families that were struggling mightily just to stay together come together in peace and harmony as they embraced the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have served with the youth in many of my callings and I have also witnessed in their lives the great growth that comes from obedience to the commandments of God. I have witnessed these wonderful young men and women receive strength and wisdom beyond their years. I have seen them resist temptation and misery as they hold fast to the teachings of our Savior. I currently serve as the bishop of our ward or congregation. I have seen the hand of God in the lives of so many of the members of our ward family. I have seen the tender mercies of the Lord as he blesses the lives of those that love him and keep his commandments. I have witnessed the strength that God will give to each of us as we humble ourselves and repent. I have witnessed the love that fills our hearts as we serve him and seek to do his will in our lives. My greatest calling is as husband and father. I cannot describe the feelings of love that I have for my dear wife and children. It would be difficult for me to share the deep feelings of love and respect I have for her and each of these wonderful children we have been given. The strength of our relationship as a family is founded on the bedrock of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
