Hi I'm Raymond

I grew up traveling worldwide with parents in the military, I love indoor soccer and reading everything I can. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband to a wonderful wife of 23 years and counting and a father of 3 great sons. I am pretty typical in that I like indoor soccer, sci-fi and reading anything I can get my hands on. I grew up as a military brat as the term goes and moved around a lot. I have lived everywhere from Germany, Berlin (before the wall came down) Korea and at least half the US. I enjoy computer networking and many outdoor activities such as bike riding, hiking etc. It’s not always easy to find the time for such things but overall I am able to do a little each year. I tend to golf about once a year whether I need it or not. I recently picked up a great deal on an off-road Motorcycle I am in the process of rebuilding.

Why I am a Mormon

In my travels throughout my life I attended many different churches and religions. Over time I came to recognize that each had a specific part of the gospel they tended to focus on or were very good at such as love, faith, charity, but none seemed to be able to have the full parts all together. When I investigated the LDS or Mormon faith I noticed it did have all the parts together as a whole. It was what I had been searching for the whole time. It took me about 2 years of looking into it and praying before I made the decision. It is not something I take lightly as the salvation of one’s soul is rather a big deal. I read the Book of Mormon many times during my study. I prayed often, I wanted to be sure. Over time during my process I began to recognize the truths of the gospel in their fullness and plainness. I was very sincere in my prayers and began to notice an increase in happiness and fulfillment in my own life. I began living more as I knew I should for true happiness. It has taken a long time and I am not finished yet, but I have noticed that I have increased in my spiritual learning and become more of who I feel the Lord would have me be and I do not believe I would be where I am at today without the teachings from the Book of Mormon. I therefore share my testimony with you of its truth. May the gospel bring light to your life, strengthen you and help you see your great worth and potential to the Lord Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

With 3 boys I am definitely involved in scouting. I am proud to say I am the parent of an eagle scout- certainly not an easy process. I help out with many of the scouting activities from camping to merit badge events. I also visit people in my area and help out when they are sick, doing service projects for them as well as the community - cleaning up parks, trails, and even helping out at shelters for those not as fortunate. I really enjoy being able to help others. It bring such a warm feeling and is fun to do that I continue to look for opportunities to help out. But I do not do it alone. I am the leader of a men’s group in which we help each other as well. I organize and help manage events as well as provide teaching and mentoring opportunities each week.
