Hi I'm Alicia

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 36 year old working mom and I have been married to my husband for almost 9 years. We have a beautiful little girl who has just turned 5 years old and is the light of our lives! I love taking care of our little girl who is quite a handful and just spending time with my family. I love to craft and refinish furniture! I LOVE learning new things. I am constantly learning how to do new things and if someone tells me something is to hard I ignore them. If I want to do something bad enough I learn how to do it. I don't care how many mistakes I make I just keep on trying until I figure it out. I also like travel, movies, literature, music, and the fine arts. I love teaching my little girl about all of the wonderful things that there are in the world. She too loves to learn and we have the best time learning together. I love my family more than anything in this world!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Mormon. My dad was a Mormon and my mom joined the church after they got married. I great up being raised with the teachings of this church and I always had a good feeling when I followed those teachings. Later in life I had a very powerful experience when I was 14 years old. I had a strong desire to really know if the church was true. I received that answer and I had this overwhelming feeling come over me. It is unlike any feeling I have ever had. I felt so much love from my Heavenly Father that it was overwhelming. I knew that He knew me and loved me so much. I knew that He knew everything about me....the good and the bad and that He still loved me. That feeling of love was so strong, so powerful, and it changed my life forever. It was weird going back to school and feeling with a surety that I KNEW God lives, loves us, and knows each of us and that I had this experience and nobody knew about it. Who would care. How could I share what I had felt and that this amazing experience had left me changed. It has changed my life and when times have been tough...and they have been tough...I have held onto that experience. Whenever I have felt at my lowest I remember that experience and there is no denying what I felt. I know that my Heavenly Father is aware of my triumphs and my challenges. Beacause of this knowledge I know that I can call on my Savior Jesus Christ trhough prayer and tell him everything. He has been there, he has felt my pain, he has comforted me, given me strength when I thought I had none left, and given me answers to my prayers. That love has also helped me as I have gotten older to learn to love others. In my work I get to help others and I love it! I really try each and every day to try and be kind to others because that is what it is all about. It is about trying to be like Jesus and to love one another and to help each other make it throught this journey. I love this gospel!

How I live my faith

I go to church each week on Sunday with my husband and daughter. Church is a total of 3 hours. A lot of my friends who are not Mormon think I am crazy for going to church that long. The first hour of church is where everyone meets together and listens to talks given by other members of the church on various topics. I love that hour. It helps me feel closer to my Heavenly Father. I also love it because I hold my daughter on my lap and rock her. I had to go back to work six weeks after my daughter was born and it was the hardest thing in the world! Ever since she was a baby I felt like that full hour was for me to just hold my baby. She is 5 now but we still hold each other and I rock her! It is my favorite part of the week! Then my husband and I teach the 8 & 9 year olds. We are learning about the New Testament this year. We have had so much fun meeting together each Sunday and spending a full hour with the most wonderful kids in the world! We have learned so much about Jesus Christ this year. We have learned about his mission before earth, on earth, and after he died and was resurrected. My husband and I love it! I also visit other ladies in our congregation every month. We get together and share a message and see how they are doing and if they need any help or support. I love doing this so much and I get to have ladies come to my house too. It is such a great support to have other women help me and share a message with me that helps me as a wife, mother, and daughter of God.
