Hi I'm Shana

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a proud wife and mother. I find that my graduate degree is helping me as a stay-at-home mother to our children. The work I'm doing within the walls of my own home I believe will affect generations to come. In a time where the disintegration of marriage seems to almost be expected, I consider my marriage to be the most beautiful relationship I have ever had. I adore my husband and consider our relationship sacred. Music is a huge part of my life. I played the violin and piano growing up. As an adult I have been privileged to sing within a wonderful choir in my area. Currently, I direct members of our congregation in our choir. While we are not professional, I take great pride in these individuals contribution and music. Other hobbies include exercise, movies and reading. I love to exercise. My husband and I run a 10K together every year at Thanksgiving. We love watching movies together. The time I read to my children every day is time that I cherish, and they seem to have developed my love of books. I also love to escape to other places within the pages of a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon in a good family with parents that loved each other and their children. They taught us right from wrong and the teachings Jesus. I know it is absolutely right for me. I have found the principles found within it have helped me to stay away from various pitfalls of life. I have come to know who my Savior, Jesus Christ is--on a personal level. I have learned of faith in Him, and the teachings He has given. I have felt and continue to feel of His love for me. This knowledge and belief is precious. It provides a level of peace that is difficult to put into words. I know that Joseph Smith saw what he said he saw. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon. I know the words within the Book of Mormon are true. It is truly "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." I have become a better person because of its teachings. Coming to know this book is true was nothing spectacular for me. While reading it, I simply had a peaceful feeling that what I was reading was true. While some addictive behaviors can be genetic, as they are in my extended family, I have been fortunate to avoid these behavioral patterns. Because of our moral code I have never found myself in compromising situations that would be detrimental to the rest of my life. I have never become an alcoholic because I have chosen to never taste alcohol. Drugs and promiscuity have been avoided because of the teachings of my faith.

How I live my faith

I currently direct a choir in our congregation. At times, I am asked to teach the youth of our congregation. Within our women's group, I have the opportunity to visit three women within our congregation on a monthly basis. I am also visited by women within our congregation. We talk about what is going on in our lives and determine how we can best meet the needs of one another. My friendships with these women are important to me. I see their talents within their careers, homes and in the community. I love being the choir director and leading them in our performances in church. People often say the songs we have sung are the best sermons taught. I believe God loves music and it can be a powerful teacher that is understood by a child as well as the most educated man or woman.
