Hi I'm Jennifer

I grew up in California. I'm a wife. I'm a mom to 2 amazing boys and a step-mom to 2 wonderful kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have been married for 22 years. I'm a working mom. I enjoy vegetable gardening, reading and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

After my father died, I experienced a period of introspection. What is this life about? Why are we here? Where do we go? What about families? Are we going to be together again? The church my family was attending couldn't give me the answers. My sister had converted several years earlier and had given me a Book of Mormon that sat on my shelf unread. Several months following my father's death, my husband and I decided to try out my sister's church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Sunday. We attended services and met the missionaries. We began to have the missionaries visit our home to teach us. We read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know for ourselves if it was really true. We learned about what God wants for us in our lives, His plan for our lives and how to live in such a way that we can return to live in Heaven. We also explored the Old and New Testament. After reading and praying, I felt a deep peace that I had never experienced before. It was the most moving prayer of my life. . At that moment, I knew I'd found the truth. My husband and I were baptized and have been members for the past 15 years. I believe that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he did in fact translate the Book of Mormon. The Lord still communicates with us and he has a living prophet on earth, Thomas S. Monson.

How I live my faith

Since joining the Church, I've had the opportunity to serve in several different capacities: as a children's Sunday School teacher and as a teacher and leader in the women's group. I participate in church meetings each Sunday and visit with the women in our congregation getting to know them. Being Mormon for me is living my faith daily, it really is a way of life. We pray daily as a family, raising our children based on teachings found in the Bible and Book of Mormon. We read scriptures as a family and discuss them each week in a family meeting. I try to follow the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Our home is a peaceful place where the Spirit of the Lord can be felt. My husband and I encourage our children to live in such a way that they can feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit in their lives each day.
