Hi I'm Mike

I grew up in upstate New York. I have brothers and sisters in 7 different states. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of 14 years to a beautiful wife, a father of 5, working full time and getting my Masters degree. I love building things with my hands as a hobby and have been known to pull things apart just to how they work - usually I can put them back together! I work in IT and love everything about computers. I program, repair and maintain them. I love sports for the physical aspect and for the mental discipline and good sportsmanship it can teach. I love spending time with my wife and children, and do so as often as I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I known that the teachings taught in the Mormon church are the teachings that Jesus Christ wants me to learn. I believe it is the church that Christ has set up for us living on the earth at this time. I grew up the only Mormon in my high school and it was difficult at times to live the standards of the church when all those around you are not. But in that circumstance, I stayed strong and felt perfectly happy that what I was doing was what God wanted me to, and expected me to do. I have prayed to know if this is the right church and if the Book of Mormon is true, and I received an answer that made me tingle from my head to my feet, as if God himself hugged me, that told me it was all true. I receive a similar feeling to that each time I pray, or read the scriptures, although not nearly as strong. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and was the one chosen, as Moses or any other prophet in the bible, to do the work of establishing Christ's church here on earth now. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that everything in it are things the God wants, and expects us to know. I believe that there is a real prophet on the earth now and that he receives revelation from God for how God wants his church run and administered.

How I live my faith

I am willing to help out and do anything that I am asked to do. There is no task too great, or too small that I will not do. Currently I am a Sunday school teacher and I enjoy doing that. When someone needs help, I am always willing to help them to the best of my ability with all that I have to offer. I view service as if any of my children needed help and how grateful I would feel towards someone who helped them to the best of their ability - I feel that gratitude from our Heavenly Father when I serve others and that feeling is what tells me what I am doing is the right thing and that God is happy with me. It is as simple as that.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. He was a man just like everyone else, he had flaws and was not perfect. We respect Joseph Smith as a great man who God called as his prophet and one who has sacrificed a lot so that we can have all that God has offered. I believe we feel about Joseph Smith much like I am sure the children of Israel felt towards Moses - love, respect, and gratitude, but not worship. Show more Show less
