Hi I'm Tom

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a small business owner, married 23 years and am the father of five wonderful kids. My oldest is 21 and my youngest is 11 and she is Autistic. Having an Autistic child in our family is a huge part of who we have become. Autism takes center stage in every family and it can be a huge challenge. I our case, our daughter Amanda is a huge blessing. I believe she will hold our family together for the rest of our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I met a friend in high school who was just a little different than the other people I was hanging out with at the time. She was just enough on the edge to relate to me but strong enough to stay grounded in her beliefs. She asked me if I wanted to know what those beliefs were all about and I took her up on it. For me the concept that God knew me personally and that there was a plan for me being on earth struck me to the core. I knew then and there that the foundation of religion I gained as a Lutheran could be built upon. I was baptized and have never stopped learning about my relationship with God and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

After years of serving in the church I am amazed at how truly living my faith is an individual endeavor. No matter what I do with others around I still have to be congruent with what I say I believe. For religious men and non-religious men this is the ultimate test of Character. I have gained incredible experience serving in my church and those good feelings, along with wanting to honor my family and be worthy of their respect make me want to be a better man.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. As an Independent I appreciate that position. I know Republicans and Democrats in my congregation. They have the same religious philosophy but don't agree on most things political. That's what makes this country unique and people who think all Mormons are conservative would be surprised to learn that is not the case. Show more Show less
