Hi I'm Doug

I'm a Mormon. I live in Alaska and enjoy doing my family genealogy.

About Me

I was born on the East coast, grew up in the SouthWest and now I live in Alaska. I'm a husband and father of four children. I enjoy the outdoor life of Alaska and places like that with my family. I also enjoy photography and genealogy. I am now the Scout Master of a local Boy Scout Troop.

Why I am a Mormon

There are so many reasons I really don't know where to start. I had experienced things that I recognized as personal revelation proving that the Holy Spirit exists, And therefor God must too. After not being able to deny this, I started to seriously study the Bible and found where Jesus said his church would be restored as it was before. I feel if the world need a prophet in the past we sure need one now. The LDS church is the only church that has the same structure as Jesus had established in his time. So combine the need for a prophet and the Jesus saying in the bible his church would be reestablished together, you get the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

As the Scout Master for many young boys in my ward I will often join them in their church classes as a role model and teacher.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

This is one of the things that made me join the church. The scriptures say no one can rejoin Heavenly Father with out being baptized but some people die before they get the chance. The bible teaches us Heavenly Father will never abandon anyone, therefore he must have a plan for those people. Right? That is one of the things we do in the Temple. We perform the physical act on behalf of the deceased and their spirit has the option to accept Christ and receive the gospel just like people who are still living. This is the only church I have found that can explain how these people can make it back to Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
