Hi I'm Monica
I am a wife, mother and volunteer art educator. I have helped bring art to thousands of elementary students. I'm a Mormon.
I am married with six daughters. One of our favorite things to do together is travel. We love to learn about different cultures and experience new things and see God's marvelous creations. I enjoy learning. I returned to college and completed my degree twenty five years after graduating from high school. I love gardening. It is my time to think and sort things out. There are so many parallels to life in a garden. Twelve years ago I began volunteer teaching and coordinating Art Masterpiece. I enjoy creating lessons and projects that encourage students to look at art through a trained eye. In my next life I hope to become an amazing artist.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because I have come to know Jesus Christ through diligently searching His words, heartfelt prayer and the tender whisperings of the spirit. I have become certain of God's individual love for and knowledge of every single one of us, and His desire to bring all of us back home to Him. I have tried to faithfully live by the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormon Church") and I am very happy. I have learned that families are meant to be forever and Jesus Christ has blessed us with the way to accomplish this through temple blessings. I am a Mormon because I have learned that only through Jesus Christ can the things in my life and parts of my nature that are broken be fixed and restored. This knowledge gives me hope, strength and peace amidst life's daily challenges. I have prayerfully read the Book of Mormon and know that is was written by men who were called and inspired by God just as the Bible's writers were. I know that each writer was inspired to write those things that would be a specific benefit and blessing to each of us today. I have been given blessings through God's priesthood power that have given me comfort at the loss of loved ones. These blessings have also given me strength and direction in times of personal challenges and help and healing in times of illness. Just as prophets such as Noah warned and taught the people of his day the Lord has given me the same direction by calling a prophet today. This prophet gives me the direction and guidance that the Lord knows I need specifically for the challenges of today.
How I live my faith
The Gospel is a daily way of life for me. It influences everything I do. It gives me perspective and direction especially when challenges come. I try to look to the life of Jesus Christ and have that guide the way I interact with my family and every one I come in contact with each day. Because I know that without God I can do nothing. I pray daily for God's grace to be an ever present part of my life. I study His words everyday seeking to find His message and will for me for each day. I try to rely more fully upon Jesus Christ and His enabling power as I face the expected and unexpected parts of my daily life. I attend church every Sunday where I am able to take the sacrament which is a reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in Gethsemane and on the cross and His resurrection. It is also a reminder of the promises that Jesus Christ has made to me to bring me back to Him and the promises I have made to Him to live and be as He would have me be. Each week as I attend Church I am reminded of Heavenly Father's love and direction for me as he inspires church members in the talks they give and the lessons they teach. I also feel a sincere love, unity and support from the members of my congregation. My family studies the scriptures every day together with the desire to have God's word direct our day. My family also gathers at least one night each week with the specific purpose to strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ, learn about His plan for each of us specifically and build our love for each other as a family. I ask for and receive priesthood blessings which give me direction, peace, healing and strength to meet my daily life challenges. I live my faith by looking to Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and remembering it is only through Him that I can become who He wants me to be.
