Hi I'm Erika

I'm a Steelers fan, an avid reader, an orphange volunteer, a missionary in the Washington Tacoma mission and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Erika, however for the next 18 months I go by Sister Eichenmiller as a serve as a disciple of Jesus Christ in the Washington Tacoma mission. I love being a missionary, serving people twenty four seven and seeing miracles every single day is the most amazing way to live. My testimony for my savior Jesus Christ has grown immensly and I have had many times where I have felt so blessed that I felt it impossible to express my joy. I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee and watching football games. I love to read mostly ficiton but on occasion I like psychology books and biographies. I have seven siblings four brothers and three sisters. I recently served for four months in an orphange in Ecuador and fell in love with the people I met there. Service has always been my greatest source of joy!

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always a mormon, though I was born and raised in the church I did not truly investigate or gain a testimony of the beliefs I grew up with until I was about 19 years old. Throughout High school I would visit my friends churchs and go to different activities from their faiths but none of them seemed to stick. eventually I got tired of wondering if I was involved in the right church, and of being unable to answer others questions about the mormon faith because of my lacking testimony. I began to study it out in my mind but more importantly I studied it out in my heart. I spent many nights in tears begging God to show me the way. After about a year of study and earnest prayer, as I sat in my car in a vacant church parking lot pondering I realized that I had recieved my answer. It hadn't come all at once or in a big showy display but each prayer I had said, each day I read from the book of mormon I had been building my faith and I knew in that moment that this church was true that I had known it all along. Ever since then I have stuck to my faith and I will stick to it forever, because I know that it is the true restored gospel on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others and by being obedient to the commandments God has given me. When I was younger I despised God and his commandments I felt restricted and punished. As I have grown and had many life experiences I have realized first hand that God gives us commandments for three reasons, to protect us, to build us, and to help us reach our full potential that he as our Heavenly Father sees in us. Service is the lords way if we wish to find God we must serve his people and study his word. each day I look for ways to serve others, I start my day with prayer and scripture study I ask God to help me recognize opportunities to serve and then I go out and do his work by inviting others to come unto christ.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Baptism is the way! It is the only way. We baptize our new members because it is the only way that they can return to live with their father in heaven. Because he has given us the sacred charge to find his children whom he so dearly loves and bring them back to him. When Adam fell man was subjected to physical and spiritual death. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ everyone that lives on the earth and that has or will ever live on the earth will recieve their physical body in its perfected state after death. However, we control our spiritual state on our own. We chose to fall from God's guidance and presence through the choices we make. Because no one is perfect Christ suffered for our sins, in agony feeling pain so excruciating that he bled from every pore. By so doing he made it possible for us to repent meaning to change and progress. We can be forgiven, and we can live with God again by being baptized because that is the way God has prepared whereby man can overcome the affects of spiritual death and live with God again. There will come a day when every person on this earth will need to be baptized. That day is today, your time is now. If not you who? If not now When? God is calling you he is preparing you because he loves you and wants to encircle you in his loving arms again one day. Show more Show less

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Every one on this earth encounters their own set of challenges. It is through opposition that we grow, opposition is the reason we where sent to this earth so that we as individuals could make choices, gain experiences, and realize our divine potential. We are all Gods children we have all made the choice to come to this earth because we knew and loved God. Each of us must learn how to overcome our own personal and unique set of challenges that we will inevitably face in this life; to some it may be an addiction, others may struggle with depression or constant need to compare. There are endless challenges and trials we will face. Amongst these challenges some will and have faced the challenge of same sex attraction. Does this mean that they are damned, unclean, broken? Absolutely not, it means that they are human. To take full advantage of this life we must learn to gain control of our bodies and to overcome the natural inclinations of our bodies. By so doing we begin to reach and see our divine potential, we realize that we are truly spiritual beings living in a mortal world with mortal challenges. But these challenges will last "but a small moment" and if we are able to endure them to overcome them we will leave this life and recieve our divine heritage of eternal life. As members of the church we share a message that can and will help you improve the quality of your life no matter who you are where your from or the challenges you face this message will help you. What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries are called of God to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world. As a missionary I have seen how the Lord works in us to lead and guide us to those who are seeking truth. We pray every night and throughout the day for guidance and often we are lead by the spirit to bless the lives of others. Our main message is that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth because our Father in Heaven or God loves us. We teach people how this gospel blesses, strengthens, and lifts us and our families. We show others the way to improve the quality of their lives and to endure and overcome lifes challenges, and we help them on the path to living a better more fullfilling life that will lead them to live eternally with God, Christ, and our families.
