Hi I'm Dianne

I'm a counsellor, a mum, and a grandma. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I hold a Diploma of Counselling and I plan to study for a Counselling Degree in 2012. I love to learn and I will probably be studying for the rest of my life. I love to help in the community and presently I am a volunteer telephone counsellor on the Lifeline Help Line. My dream at this time is to set up my own counselling business. I'm employed by Lifeline as a Community Recovery Worker. I help people who were affected by the January floods in Qld. I find it very rewarding work as I love to help others. In my personal life I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother to five wonderful grandkids. I love family, being creative with scrapbooking and sewing and I enjoy traveling around Australia. I believe that the greatest achievment in this life for me is to be the best mother I can be.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a Catholic in a large family of ten children. My grandmother was a big influence in my building my faith in God. I have never known a life without a belief in God. As a young adult I stopped attending church but always retained a faith and hope in Christ. Then at age 29, married with two children I met the missionairies of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I recognised the truths they taught me as if I had known them forever. I could see that this church was very family orientated and my husband and I shared that value. One day I decided to ask God if what I was hearing was true. I also wanted to know if the feelings I was experiencing came from Him. My answer was an overwhelming feeling of peace and I knew that this was right for me. My husband also experienced this conversion and we were baptised. Life as a member of this church has been truly rewarding for me and my family.

How I live my faith

I have lived my faith in many ways as I have participated in many of the church programs for children, youth and women. Presently I teach infant children ages 18mths - 3 yrs each sunday. I teach them basic moral principles like sharing, God's love, obedience and happiness. This is done through play, music, and activities. It is very rewarding. I love to study the Bible and the Book of Mormon and have had the opportunity to teach the scriptures to high school students in an early morning scripture class on each school day. I found this to be very enjoyable and I admire young people with faith enough to get up early each morning for four years. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true and since joining the church I have developed a truly personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
