Hi I'm Mary Lynn Hopkins

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am wife, mother of five and grandmother of fifteen. I am an elementary school librarian with a flair for storytelling and fun. Children never cease to amaze me with their unconditional love and desire to learn. I am passionate about music and the power of the written word. I'm happiest when I'm using my imagination and creativity. These talents are gifts from my Heavenly Father. I grew up traveling the world with my family while my father served in the military. Those experiences provided me with a deep appreciation for the freedoms of my country and the culture of other nations. I met my husband, a convert of two years, in Germany. We married in the Washington DC temple and moved to Texas to finish school at Texas A&M. (Talk about a culture shock!) I am now proud to be a Texan and call it my home.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a LDS home and always had faith in the teachings of my parents. But as with most members of the church, I came to a turning point where I needed to know for myself. It was a critical time in my early twenties and the world was beckoning. It would have been much easier to go the way of the world. My tender testimony was nurtured through the loving patience of church leaders, family, prayer and study. Answers came in the form of peaceful happiness; a happiness that comes when your heart is sure and confusion disappears. That critical decision has made all the difference and I have never looked back. I'm grateful to have the priesthood in my home with the gospel providing a firm foundation for the development of values and eternal perspective. It gives me purpose in living each day to the best of my ability, to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. I know that Heavenly Father loves us enough to provide us with continued revelation, a prophet to guide us through these last days and a plan to help me return to Him some day.

How I live my faith

I live in a community where there are few Mormons. This provides many opportunities to explain our beliefs and serve others. All of my friends are from other faiths. They are very spiritual people and so I try to share what I can about my beliefs. I want them to understand that I love the Bible and Jesus Christ; that He is my Redeemer and Savior as well. Hopefully the example of our family will encourage others to know more.
