Hi I'm Jeanne Evans

I grew up in the Uintah Basin, I'm a country girl and love it, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Utah all my life! I attended Snow College and earned an Associates Degree. And after that I went to Utah State University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. I loved college and made lots of friends, some were even from different countries. Also I went on a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Tacoma Washington and really loved it. I was able to go around and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone that I talked to, it was pretty awesome! It was majorly hard because I was far away from family and friends, but I was able to stick with it for those 18 months because I had a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true and that was what I was sharing with others. This is why so many of my friends even currently are out sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ for 18 months-2 years of their lives. Because we know it is true and not only can it bring us happiness, but it can bring each and every one of you true and everlasting happiness. I was able to teach alot of people about Jesus Christ while I was in Washington, and I know that through Christ's teachings these people have found peace and happiness in their lives. But the great thing about missionary work is that it doesn't end when you get home, so I've still been able to help alot of people even here in Logan Utah. Maybe not to the extent that I did while I was serving a full time mission, but I still try as much as I can where I'm at.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon and so it's all I've ever really known. So obviously I just went to church as a teenager due to my family always going to church. But what really did it for me was when I had a younger brother who died while I was on my mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For 18 months I was out teaching people about the Plan of Salvation, which is what we believe about where we came from, why we're here and where we're heading after this life. During that time and also to due to my brother passing away it became very real to me that there is a plan for all of us. We're not stuck in this world with no purpose in being here, there is a reason why we're here. There is literally a place we'll go to after this life and death is not the end. We'll even see each other again after this life. But it's amazing how much sense this all makes and that we don't have to worry about what'll happen later on. Mainly we just need to be good people here on earth and then we'll go on to bigger and better things later. It's amazing because due to the Gospel of Jesus Christ being restored to the earth again modernly we now have temples everywhere. We don't have to worry about being split up after death, because through the priesthood and temple Sealing we can be sealed to our families forever. I know that I'll be with my family forever and I'm not completely separated from my brother and my other sister who died as a baby. We'll be together again after this life!!

How I live my faith

As a member of the Mormon church I've had many opportunities to serve others. It's always been amazing to be involved with these service opportunities to make the world a better place. One time that I was really able to be involved with some service was when I was involved with the LDS Institute in Logan. We had a service group that would always try to find people or groups of people to help. One of the girls in our group found a lady who needed help with her yard, so we went and raked her yard. As it turned out this lady had Huntington's disease and so she couldn't do very much on her own. So we tried to talk to her, but her caregiver had to translate what she was saying to us. (because her speech wasn't very clear) It was really nice that we could help her since she had always had a really nice yard before, but wasn't able to do it on her own anymore. Another time we went to a homeless shelter in Ogden Utah and served dinner to the homeless people there. It was great because a couple of the guys who currently were living in the shelter were asking us why we were there? At first they thought it was due to some class project or club, but they were surprised when they found out that we weren't getting paid or receiving class credit for it. And that is really what the church of Jesus Christ is about, it's all about helping other people to be happy. I know that the best way I've been able to live my faith has been through forgetting my problems and helping others to be happier.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Jeanne Evans
Jospeh Smith helped restore Jesus Christ's church from former times to our time and he did it through revelation from God and Jesus Christ. He was able to restore all the principles and teachings from Jesus Christ's church which has been messed up and confused to be clear and easy to be understood. Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God, just like Moses and Abraham were prophets from in the bible, and so he was able to direct the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints through the power of God. Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Jeanne Evans
We believe the Bible to be just as important as the Book of Mormon, but the reason why we read the Book of Mormon is because it is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." So the Book of Mormon does not take place of the Bible, but it stands by the Bible and is yet "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." Show more Show less
