Hi I'm Mary

I grew up an Air Force (USAF) brat. I'm an 8th grade History teacher. I love eating great food and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a regular person trying to live life happily like most people. I have hobbies and interests which allow me to interact with others and enjoy the amazing world such as hiking, traveling, and listening to music. I also love to read and am a regular at the public library. Being single in such a family centered church might be thought as a disadvantage. However, I am luckily enough to have fantastic parents, supportive siblings, and wonderful nieces and nephews. Earlier this year I rescued a Cocker Spaniel and he has been an added joy to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, but that isn’t why I still attend. I am a Mormon because I have found so much peace and direction from my membership in the LDS church. When I was a teenager I always felt close to my Savior Jesus Christ. However, I didn’t fully understand or believe the role of Joseph Smith played in my faith and I struggled to understand the testimony of my parents. Thankfully, Heavenly Father provides a way for direction and inspiration. Through prayer I found the understanding of what a great man Joseph Smith was and his role in restoring Christ’s church. I have purpose and meaning to my life and I feel incredibly blessed to have a relationship with my Savior. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through service to the community and in my ward. Primarily, I try to be a good citizen and to be activily involved with my community and city. I have participated in numerous service projects helping the school where I teach and with food banks. Currently, I work with the young women in my ward with their yearly summer camp and guiding them with their personal progress goals. I also visit specific ladies monthly to make sure they are doing well, have a friend, and to share an inspirational thought or experience. I love helping God's children and allowing them to feel that they matter and mean something.
