Hi I'm Heather

I'm a mom of 4 with one on the way. I teach Spanish and like to play the flute. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in southern New Mexico. I met my husband while studying Spanish at college. We have traveled to 8 different Spanish-speaking countries together and both earned advanced degrees in Spanish teaching or literature. I'm a mom of 4 young children, one of whom is adopted, and am expecting a 5th soon. The kids keep me pretty busy, but in my spare time I enjoy singing in choirs, playing flute, reading, or working out.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the LDS church for my entire life. As a teen I read the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon, and gained my own testimony of the truthfulness of the book. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he restored Christ's church.

How I live my faith

At church I work with the young children ages 18 months to 11 years old. I teach them gospel centered lessons each Sunday and help organize weekly activities for the older children. I also spend a few evenings a month visiting with other women of our faith in an effort to help strengthen each other's faith and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. At home, our family has regular scripture study, daily family prayers, and spend one night each week together as a family. Sometimes we do something fun, other times we talk about our faith with the children.
