Hi I'm Mary.

I grew up in New Mexico, USA, and I have seen the world go from radio to TV, to tiny phones in every pocket, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked many jobs, from office to factory to correctional officer. I love learning, loved school, college, and everything associated with school. I could never decide what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I have tried a large number of things! My daughter says that at least my life has never been boring, and she is correct. I have never understood how anyone could be bored, there is so much to experience! I love art, and do beautiful picture depictions with woven stitch crochet. I love mystery novels, I write poetry, and am mother to many children, and grandmother to many as well. I am married to my best friend and the love of my life. I am a born romantic, cry or laugh at movies, love to hike, to travel, to read. I love the mountains, and find a great perspective there. I love my family and friends. I live my life with zest, joy and laughter, tears and trials, and relish all of it! And I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the answers to all of life's questions are found here. I was raised in the LDS church by a Mother and grandmother who lived with unwavering faith, and I saw both of those faithful, amazing women greet life head on and best it. They both suffered many trials, but came out triumphant. My role models were set and I hope I am like them. I was also raised by a loving father, who taught me what a father should be, and gave me skills and character and courage. I cherish my relationship with a literal and loving Heavenly Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ, the great Creator, the great Mediator, and my personal friend. He does indeed know my name and loves me. I have had many deep and personal spiritual experiences. I love the solidness and security of absolute truth and because of that, I have an eternal perspective of not only this life, but who we were before, and what will come after death. It helps me deal with day to day irritations, "what is it in the light of eternity?" It changes everything! I know the atonement of the Savior is for the whole world, He loves all of us, He paid the ultimate price for us. Who would not be humbled by that? Even if we can't understand it, He does, and I am so grateful! He wants us to come home to him. I know who I am. I am a child of God, a Princess with royal heritage! As are all of His children. I love Him, I love his Son, I love my family, my friends, my life and my faith. I know that families can be together forever. I know the commandments are for me, for my good. I love that He sends living Prophets to help us navigate the trials of life. I love the scriptures, and applying their lessons helps me to be happy. I am always learning, sometimes stumbling, but continually turning to the Light of the World, Jesus Christ. I see miracles happen every day and I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith because it is who I am, not what I am. I work at my job- that's what I do. But I do it well because that's who I am. I have a great love of people, and serve those I work with from that perspective. I have taught classes both in and out of the church, for women, children, and families. I love teaching, but its not my profession, it's my passion, and it's always been freely given. I have served in Leadership positions for all those groups as well. My husband and I currently serve together teaching couples about the blessings of the LDS Temple, the opportunity and great gift of uniting families together forever. We have both served as volunteers in the temple, and loved that service. We also serve as Visiting Teacher/Home teacher companions. In the church we watch over one another, that we may sit down together in heaven. I have been a den mother, a scout leader, a wife, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, teacher, student, boss and employee, friend and caregiver. All of it is who I am, not what, and all of it is based in faith, love and service.
