Hi I'm Austin

I grew up in Las Vegas. I am an active duty member of the United States Air Force. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a family man. I love spending time with my wife and my cute baby girl. We enjoy going to movies, camping in the living room or in the mountains, cooking, bargain shopping, and eating out when we have a little extra money. My constant entertainment is my little girl who is always testing my patience and keeping my wife and I laughing to tears. For work, I am currently serving in the United States Air Force, and have been in for a little over 2 years. Being able to serve in the military is an honor, and I am grateful to the men and women who have served before me. I enjoy writing, and am currently co-authoring a book about fatherhood, and it should be done sometime next year. I love sports and I enjoy spending time at the gym doing strength training and improving my fitness. I am currently enrolled in a personal trainer certification course to take on a second job and help pay some extra bills while I work on my bachelors of business degree. I'm almost halfway there, and when I finish that I will hopefully be ready to get an MBA. I love God, I love my family, I love this country, and I am trying to live a life that brings honor to all of them, and I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe that God has spoken to man, does speak to man and will continue to speak to man. I believe that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and that by reading and following its principles I can attain eternal life. I believe in the living Christ, he who overcame spiritual and physical death. He overcame our sins, transgressions, shortcomings, and weaknesses through the atonement (His suffering on the cross and in the garden of Gethsemane). Over the years I have experienced many small but significant moments, when God spoke to me. Sometimes through thoughts in my mind. Other times by the feelings of my heart. Every day is a challenge where doubt, concern, stress, worry, and fear can creep in and destroy my peace and progress. However, by falling to my knees in humble prayer and asking for the spirit of guidance and direction in my life, I can get the help and answers I need; Not in a vision or burning bush, maybe not by an angels voice or having an out of body experience, but by listening to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Learning to lean on the Lord when times get tough strengthens our relationship with him. I know this is true because I have talked to him in prayer and felt his mercy and love. I have had many spiritual experiences in my life that have confirmed to me that this is the Church of Jesus Christ, and that its members are the saints of the latter days. Our message is that of Jesus Christ the Savior of all Mankind and the world. Joseph Smith was called as a Prophet to restore God's church with all its keys, ordinances, and principles. That same church that had been organized by Jesus Christ himself when he was living on the earth. I testify as a man who is not perfect in prayer, action, or faith that anyone can know as I do, that this is the true church of Christ. If you have questions, ask them. If you have doubts, study them out and pray about them. Then listen, God will answer.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by hard work, diligence, service and love. There is no one way to live the Gospel. Every man in this life has different talents and abilities that the Lord has blessed him with in order to uplift those people around him. I currently have the opportunity to teach early morning seminary to high school kids ages 14-18. Although a challenge, I have never enjoyed a church responsibility more than this one. I admit I do not always love waking up at 5am, but with prayer, determination, and a little encouragement from my wife and the kids I have grown fond of the opportunity it gives me to start my day pondering and discussing the wonders of God the Father and Jesus Christ. It is the most rewarding teaching experience I have had in my adult life. Living by faith is done by making a lot of little decisions everyday that impact the world for good. Assisting those in need, volunteering in the community, and sometimes just giving someone a warm smile as you greet them can change a life. A life lived by faith is not a perfect one, but I learned long ago that salvation, is in the striving. I strive to be a little better each day, and with each good choice I draw nearer to God's presence.
