Hi I'm Luke

I am a business owner, I am a CPA, I am a husband, I am a father of five, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My hobbies are reading (science fiction and history), traveling, board and computer games. I love spending time with my wife of 19 years and our five children. I attended Central Valley School District from K - 12 and I am a graduate of Brigham Young University. I am a partner at a public accounting firm that works with hospitals.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up actively attending the Catholic Church. I served as an alter boy and considered becoming a priest. I enjoyed these opportunities to serve and tried to follow the example of my Savior Jesus Christ. During my junior year of high school, the Spirit whispered to my heart that there was more that the Lord wanted me to have in my life. This began a year long search for the Church the Lord wanted me to attend. I attended many denominations and meet many wonderful people, but none of those Churches felt right to me. I knew that somewhere the Church existed that the Lord wanted me to join, so I continued my search. In my senior year of high school, I had the good fortune to befriend a Mormon girl. She invited me to attend church with her. I accepted her offer and felt the presence of the Spirit while I worshiped the Lord with the Mormons. I then accepted the opportunity to meet with the missionaries. My first meeting with the missionaries was one of the most powerful manifestations of the Spirit that I have ever felt in my life. As I listened to the missionaries testify that our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith, I knew that this great event occurred. As I read the Book of Mormon, the Spirit whispered that this great book was the word of God. After months of Prayer and study, I made the decision to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and to obey the commandments of my Savior Jesus Christ. I made that decision over 20 years ago. I have felt the Spirit many times since that day. I have come to know more surely we have a Father in Heaven who knows us and loves us. I know that he wants us to be happy and to return to live with him. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's Church and exists to help us keep the commandments, to serve others, and to make sacred covenants with our Father in Heaven. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

For the last five years, I have had the opportunity to serve as a Bishop of my Ward. A Bishop serves as the minister of the congregations and work with other members of the Congregation to teach adults, youth, and children the Gospel and invite them to come unto Christ and to serve Him. I have been humbled during this time by the commitment shown by members of the Church to serving the Savior and their fellow man. I have been blessed by opportunities to assist the poor and needy using the resources provided by members of the church to ease their suffering.
