Hi I'm Mike

I ride a bicycle and enjoy running. I also enjoy hiking and camping with my wife. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent 15 years in the military, a combination of United States Army and Air Force. Left the military because I thought it might not be a good place for my children to grow up. Went to college and graduated in 1978. Since tht time I have been involved in retail sales. My children are now grown. My wife and I have 17 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my heritage. My great grand-father came across the plains with handcarts to Salt Lake City when he was 11, with two siblings. Their mother and father and three other siblings died of disease while on the river traveling up from New Orleans. My father died when I was 11. My mother became an alchoholic moving in and out of private and state hospitals. My sister and I ate were we could with ultimate help from friends and family. Initally, I continued with the Church because of the Word of Wisdom and what could happen to me without it. I have remained in the Church because of what people have taught me, giving me spiritual strength for lifes challenges.

How I live my faith

For the past eight years I have worked for Deseret Industries (DI). Deseret Industries is a thrift store supported by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). Items which are sold come from contributions that are donated from those living in the areas of DI. Products that do not sell may go to locations around the world to help others. Members and non-members seeking work, train at Deseret Industries for up to a year. I enjoy helping others set personal goals, become emotionally strong and self sufficient, and find work.
