Hi I'm Sam Perryman

I'm a musician. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love taking things apart and trying to put them back together. I love a good challenge. I am a theatrical technician, and actor, an artist, a musician, and currently a missionary. I love playing video games. I have a strong desire to serve God and my country. Right now I'm serving God as a missionary in Raleigh. I plan on serving my country in the Army.

Why I am a Mormon

For a long time I was Mormon in name only. I went to church, obeyed the law, but my religion didn't really influence me outside of Sunday. I was determinded to do whatever I wanted, not really caring about what effect it had on me. That all changed when my dad was diagnosed with cancer. What's really unique about this church is the eternal family. When I found out that my dad had cancer it really made me think about our mortality. I knew that I was sealed to my family for eternity, but I felt like I would be more of a burden on them, bringing them down. I started praying a lot. I read the scriptures, and actually started paying attention in church. I realized that to be my very best, I had to let my religion influence me for good. It was tough trying to turn my life around like that, but I have seen how much better off I am for it. My dad kicked cancer, and my family has grown so much stronger from the experience. As a missionary I have seen that without fail, a family that is centered around Jesus Christ is a strong one.

How I live my faith

I am currently a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I know that the greatest thing I can do for anybody is to help them come closer to God. I have been blessed with the knowledge that I have received, and I want everyone else to receive those same blessings. I know that true happiness comes from living right. I have felt no greater joy than that which comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love seeing other people come to feel God's love, and that is one of the biggest reasons that I am serving as a missionary.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Sam Perryman
We do not worship Joseph Smith. Our worship is devoted to God, our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. Just as past prophets, such as Moses and Abraham are reverenced, we do acknowledge the sacred calling of the Lord's prophets in modern times. Joseph Smith is indeed recognized and admired by many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but as a great leader and a servant of God, not as the object of our worship. The work that the prophet Joseph Smith did for the salvation of God's children is indeed of great value, but in the end it stands to point all men everywhere to come unto Christ. Show more Show less
