Hi I'm Betsy

I'm a wife, mother and grandmother. I love children, Boston Terriers, reading and working on my computer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have five beautiful married daughters and they have blessed us with 16 wonderful grandchildren. Some of them live nearby and we love having family gatherings. Three of our grandsons recently volunteered to serve full-time for two years each on Church missions in Minnesota, Ohio and California. While I was raising my children, I had a child-care business in my home. Through the years I had many children come and go. My family called them our "rent-a-kids" because it was so fun having them around, but returning them to their parents at the end of the day. We are still in touch with many of them today. I am now retired and a Senior Citizen. My husband and I were privileged to serve as Senior Missionaries for the Church at the ASU Institute of Religion. It was very rewarding to get to know the students and help them find where to attend Church, secure available housing and help with any other problems that would arise. My mother and I took art classes after my father passed away and it has been a wonderful hobby for me, although I have not painted for some time now. However, two of my daughters have become talented professional artists. One of my favorite hobbies is working on family history/genealogy and tracing my ancestors back as far as I can. It is a very challenging and rewarding exercise. For fun, I love reading a good novel or watching an uplifting movie.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or Mormons. I believe that our Heavenly Father loves us and that Jesus Christ is our Savior. In the 1800's God chose Joseph Smith, Jr. to be the prophet through whom he would restore the true church, which had been lost through the centuries. I believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins so that we can repent and return to him. I also believe that if faithful, families can be together eternally. I believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, which are both histories of God's dealings with his children, both in the Old World and the New. On a day-to-day basis, I enjoy the association I have with the members of my Church in various meetings and socials. I feel like I am a part of larger family and enjoy monthly visits from two women assigned by the church to check on my physical and religious well being.

How I live my faith

I was born in the Church and have always been active, serving as a Sunday School teacher and leader in youth organizations. As an adult, I served for three years as a voluntary, full-time Senior Missionary at the Arizona State University LDS Institute of Religion with my husband. I love genealogy and family history and volunteer to help others in this endeavor. I belong to the Church women's organization and enjoy the sisterhood that it provides and the satisfaction that comes from helping others. I try to be a good example to my friends and family by living the teachings of my Church.
