Hi I'm Julie

I go to college at Brigham Young University and will be serving a mission soon. I'm a pianist, organist, and singer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Julie. I just finished my freshman year at Brigham Young University. I am still undecided for my major but I am thinking about becoming a counselor. I would like to help teenage girls get through the middle school and high school years. I have been called to serve as a missionary for my church for the next 18 months starting in January 2014. I will be serving in the Brazil Brasília Mission. I can't wait to serve the people of Brazil! I have been playing piano for over 10 years and I love it. I enjoy playing volleyball and ultimate frisbee.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and was baptized when I was eight years old. But I wasn't converted to the church until I was 12 years old when I went to a church girls' camp for a week. I had never been away from home for that long and I didn't know many girls at the camp so I had a really hard time. On the last night of camp, the oldest girls sang a musical performance. As they sang, a wave of comfort flowed through me. That's all I can describe it as. It was the best feeling in the world. I suddenly knew that everything that they were singing about, being a child of God and God's and Jesus Christ's love for us, was absolutely true. The Spirit filled me and I just started crying. Since that time, I have gained a stronger testimony through studying the scriptures and prayer. I know without a doubt that God answers our prayers. That first time at girls' camp, I prayed for comfort and I received that and at the same time gained a testimony of my own. I am now going to serve a mission for my church because I want everyone to have the same opportunity to hear this great message of Jesus Christ just like I did. I can't wait to serve and love the people of Brazil as I invite them to come unto Christ.

How I live my faith

I was a teacher in the women's organization of my church. I would teach lessons every few weeks about different topics of church doctrine. It was a great learning opportunity for me as I learned to teach and also strengthened my testimony of this church. I also participated in our congregation's choir that would perform musical numbers every month. I am now part of a committee that helps organize activities and announces all of the events that are coming up for our ward or congregation.
