Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife. I am a stay-at-home mom of two. I have my Bachelor's Degree, an Associate's Degree in something else and a variety of certifications. I was a competitive swimmer. I love animals, especially dogs and horses. I was an avid horseback rider. I have a strong desire to create and it gives me a great sense of accomplishment and joy when I make something beautiful. I like photography and music and combining the two together. I like to make things for other people to make them happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I have crossed paths many times in my life with Mormons. Sometimes I knew they were Mormon and many times I didn't until much later. Some interactions didn't spark my interest in this church. One did, however. A co-worker of mine had just returned home from his mission. He was always cheerful, helpful and a friend to everyone. He had barely become a member a few years earlier. He joined for a girlfriend. She dumped him while he was on his mission. He continued on, loved the church and loved life. Over lunch one day he taught me about the church and afterwards I was so happy. Not because of him, but because of what he taught me. At the same time I had started dating a man who was also a member. I was intrigued by him and how he carried himself. We continued to date even after I moved 1,000 miles away for school. One day while walking to class the missionaries passed me. I kept walking and then felt the need to go back and talk to them. I found them sitting under a tree and I went over and asked them if they could tell me more about their church. The next day I met with them for the first time. The immense feeling of joy I had previously returned. This continued everytime I met with them and after attending church for the first time. I met with the missionaries for the first time on a September 5, 2002 and was baptized September 14, 2002.

How I live my faith

I think before I act more now. I try to see what our Heavenly Father sees in others. In my ward I teach a group of five year olds. One of my favorite things to do is prepare my lessons for these children. I love to make something that they will want to keep, for a little while anyways. I want them to have something that will remind them of what they were taught that Sunday. I teach my children how to pray, love and be kind.
