Hi I'm Josh

I am a graphic designer. I was raised in Tucson, Arizona. I am a convert. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a part time graphic design student working toward my bachelors degree. I love playing Ultimate Frisbee and practicing martial arts. I also am an avid gamer. Video games have always been a place of stress relief for me. I also love to read! My latest book purchases include a pair of rare mid 20th century prints of Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.

Why I am a Mormon

In early 2011, I had made the choice to end my life after living a life of depravity and sin. I had a date set and a plan made out. The date was set for several months down the road. A few weeks after I set the date, I met, who is now, my closest friend. We spent the next few weeks and months talking about some tense issues and also meaningless things. On the day that I was going to end my life I went to talk with her one last time. While talking with her, I told her my darkest secrets and she was still there. I heard a voice whisper to me saying, 'don't end it, at least one person cares for you and that is worth living for.' I chose to trust that voice and not end my life. After some heavy thought I made the decision to read the Book of Mormon I had received from her a few weeks before. I browsed through the pages and started to ask her questions about the Church. One of the first questions I asked was "Why are Mormons so happy?" and she simply replied, "Because there is no reason not to be when you have Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost with you." Shortly after she answered my questions, I started attending a Singles Ward. I began meeting with the missionaries and learning from them while I pondered and prayed and received my own personal testimony to the trust of the Book of Mormon. I was baptized on August 13th, 2011. From the moment I stepped foot into that Ward for the first time, I felt happier than I have ever been in my life. I cannot imagine my life without the Church and without Christ and the Holy Ghost. There is truly no feeling like the feeling that the Church brings to you.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith in many ways. I attend my wards meetings each week. I take classes at the Institute of Religion on campus. I read and study the Scriptures and listen to talks online by the Church leaders. I am the sacrament coordinator for my Ward. I also surround myself with other members of the Church to help strength me and to be shining examples of how I should live my life.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is like being happy all the time. Even when the world tries to get me down I am happy because I know my Savior lives and loves me. Show more Show less
