Hi I'm Mike

I was born and have lived in the Southwest part of the United States my whole life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an Avionics Test Engineer and really enjoy my work, but I had the opportunity to remodel several houses and once took some time off to do pool and landscape construction. I guess you could say that my construction projects are my hobby because I prefer designing and creating things more than I do tinkering. I have been fortunate to travel to various locations in the world and love meeting people everywhere I go. I am blessed to call people from all around the world my friends. I am also blessed to have wonderful children and a wonderful wife. My wife comes from the northern region of Brazil and the beautiful thing about Brazilians is that they have parties for any possible occasion. I really enjoy spending time with my friends. They are of many different cultures and views, but the one thing that I can always count on is getting a welcome hug or handshake and knowing that they care about me as I do about them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Mormon church when I was 14 years old. I guess I didn't really even know what a Mormon was, but I did know that I loved sports and I was invited to play basketball, volleyball and softball by friends who was raised in the church. I started to attend church with he and his family and when they asked if I would like some Missionaries teach me more about what the church beliefs were I was very interested. I guess I was very curious because even at that age I could see that there was something very special about the people that I was meeting through my activities in the church. I felt very comfortable attending the church and found that the teachings gave me a different perspective in my life. I was baptized shortly after that time and eventually went on to serve a mission for the church where I had the opportunity to teach others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been incredibly blessed throughout my life because of a few friends that decided to invite me to play sports with them. I have not always made the best decisions in my life and so knowing that the atonement is my opportunity to gain forgiveness is very important to me. I have had many times in my life when I didn't have the answer and over time I am becoming quicker to call upon God in prayer when those time come. I have a very strong testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel brought to me by Missionaries that were sent by friends that could see more potential in me than I could in myself. My life and the life of my family members has been blessed many fold by living the Gospel of a loving Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am fortunate to be able to serve in the church and help to touch the lives of those in my congregation. I was once asked by a co-worker about those that serve in the church and how much they make. I smiled and told him that I wasn't sure as the number of blessings is different for every person depending on their service to others. He looked a little confused and then I explained that at all local levels of the Mormon church all activities of leadership and service are voluntary and the only reward was the blessings bestowed by God and knowing you are helping to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of everyone you serve.
