Hi I'm Becka

I'm a self-employed artist. I love family; I love community theater; I love hugs; and I love life! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an affectionate, happy artist that loves to laugh. I'm known for finding joy in the little things in life. I work as a self-employed graphic designer, but I also enjoy sketching, photography, theater, music, writing and most anything artistic. In addition to being involved in community theater, I love spending time with my family and being an aunt to my 17 nieces and nephews. Life has its challenges, but I know I can always rely on my Father in Heaven, who loves me. Recently, I was laid off from the public organization I had worked for nearly 12 years when my position was eliminated during a round of budget cuts. I know so many others who have experienced this, and I recognize that times are hard for everyone, but the change was still unexpected. I honestly didn't think it would happen to me. Losing a job, for whatever reason, can be discouraging. However, I trust in Jesus Christ and understand that change is a necessary element in the divine plan for my life. I feel so blessed to be out of debt and to have the continual love and support of family and friends. I've also found that this change has provided me with new and exciting opportunities, including developing my work as an independent graphic designer and being more involved in community theater, both of which I'm very passionate about. Most importantly, although there are still uncertainties involved with my work situation, I continue to feel the assurance through my faith in the Lord that all will be well.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because of my testimony in Jesus Christ. It's through the scriptures and modern revelation that I've come to understand and feel the power of His atonement and sacrifice in my life. As another testament of Jesus Christ, in companionship with the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon has helped me to know the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the plan of our Father in Heaven for his children. My faith in Jesus Christ has given me strength and peace during troubled times and much joy and happiness in all situations. The gospel of Jesus Christ also gives me hope that I will be be with my family always.

How I live my faith

I'm a tad bit shy, but I love people and getting to know people. I'm also a very affectionate person, and I find that a smile and a hug can go a long way on a discouraging day. I believe that when we show love to those around us, we're able to feel a small portion of the love God has for all His children. Hugs, like true friendship, are a blessing for both participants; when you give a hug, you always get a hug in return. :) The community theater in my town focuses on providing fun, family productions, and by being involved as a volunteer, both as an actor and backstage, I've had the chance to meet many wonderful people of different faiths. The time spent together in putting together a show offers opportunities to discuss common values and life experiences. It's so rewarding getting to know other good people who love God and want to volunteer and be involved in their community and in the arts. I also enjoy developing wonderful friendships at church as well. I attend church with other young single adults (ages 18 to 30 years). My church group provides numerous opportunities to serve and get to know people with similar values. In addition to our weekly worship services, we often meet together to participate in service projects and other uplifting activities.
