Hi I'm Irby

I grew up in Mississippi. Moved to Utah during college. Found a pretty girl who introduced me to the church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a dad with 4 wonderful children and a granddad with 7 grand children. I have been fascinated by Jeeps since I was around 10 years old. Being a outdoors person, the Jeeps and off road driving fit together quite well. My first Jeep was a 1967 CJ5. I still have and drive occasionally my 1977 J-20 Jeep pickup. Two years ago I bought my present primary transportation, a 2008 Jeep Wrnagler. Still loving jeeping out in the boonies.

Why I am a Mormon

When I started dating the young lady who became my wife, religion was not the attraction. However, we had conversations about her beliefs in the church and her desire to be married in the temple. The concept of being married in this life and eternally was my first great attraction to the church. My thought was that if I loved a woman enough to be married now, why not want to be married for ever. When I took the missionary lessons in her home, I just felt like the principles that they taught were so simple and understandable. We became engaged along about that time and I joined the church. Being quite a shy person, I didn't feel that I knew much about the church, but all that I learned in those first years did strengthen me in it. In the beginning, I found it hard to believe the Joseph Smith story of his vision and organizing the church. But, the thought came to me to not worry about it and just learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm surely glad that I did. Through years of love and support of my good wife, activity in and study in the church, I have now an unshakable knowledge based on my experience that Joseph Smith, Jr. did visit with deity and reorganize the Lord's church once again on the earth. Also, we now have the Lord's prophet leading the church today.

How I live my faith

As I have mentioned my love of the outdoors, this led me to accept assignments to work with the Boy Scouts in the church. I've spent many years working in various positions in Scouts. I have worked with several good men and women in Scouts that have strengthened my faith and beliefs in the church. Other church jobs have contributed to my faith in the church. So, it is a church of attending Sunday meetings regularly and taking jobs that help others that has kept my interest in the church over the years.
