Hi I'm Brandon Homer

I was born in Idaho, transplanted to Arizona. I survived teen age years, scouting, school, & life. Wife + 3 kids, & I am a Mormon

About Me

My wife & I are raising three young children. Sometimes we wonder how we were "blessed" with such amazing kids, but we've learned that through kindness & patience that children are truly a blessing. Both of us were raised in what might be considered larger families, so children were always something we've wanted to have. Maybe that is why when working with different ages in church, I've always enjoyed working with younger children or teenagers. I count some of the children I worked with in primary as good friends now that they are older teenagers.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Latter Day Saint (Mormon) Church. I remember thinking about the different doctrines & traditions of the church mostly as an older teenager, while serving as a missionary, & after getting married. The beauty of the Mormon Faith is that there really is a focus on basic things that will help anyone achieve success in this life & the life to come. I've realized that these "basic things" are for the good & will help anyone live a happier & more fulfilled life right now. Much happiness will come into your life by living this way. I remember a family that I taught as a missionary in Oregon. The head of the household hadn't gone to any church or religious organizations at all during there 20 + years of marriage. While teaching this great man & his family he found out on his own the beauty & the simpleness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Shortly after getting baptized, he accepted a calling of leading the Church Choir, interestingly enough "Choir" is what he taught in the local school system. He found a place right away where he felt accepted & needed. The highlight of my relationship with this family was being able to attend their "Temple Sealing" in the Portland Temple where they were sealed together as a family for time & all eternity. Very special memories.

How I live my faith

I enjoy helping out with the local church unit, whether its with helping other families when they move by loading a truck, or yard work, or other acts of service. Its fun getting together with neighbors and having socials or other fun activities. Earlier this summer, there was a family that moved into our ward who are from Tonga. They treated out large church group to a luau complete with sticky rice & a pig roast. They also showed us the native dances from the islands. Tons of fun.
