Hi I'm Angie

I am married to my best friend and we have four awesome kids. Colorado is home. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Angie. I'm a wife of 22 years and mom to four amazing kids. My world revolves around them. Actually, my world is them because my career choice is to be a stay-at-home mom. More accurately, I could be classified as an in-the-van mom. Either way, I love my choice! I appreciate different people, ideas and perspectives--a product of having moved around a bit with my Air Force hubby. Life is my current university, BYU my former. I live near the snow, but am crazy about the beach, which just seems wrong. Sunshine is my friend, cooking my nemesis, a good read my escape and politics my vice--not talk radio, I'm talking unfiltered c-span!

Why I am a Mormon

I love my church! It offers so much support and backup in the efforts I make as an individual and within my family. But then again, most any church can do that. I'm a Mormon because of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I read, studied and prayed about Joseph Smith's account of seeing God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Through the still small voice that comes from God, I know without a doubt it is a true account--it's not a made-up story, it really happened! Because of that delicate yet penetrating whispering, I know that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, are two separate and distinct beings, who are "one" in purpose. That makes complete sense to me! My church has a living prophet, it has temples, it has priesthood authority, it has scripture--all consistent with Christ's original teachings and organization. Knowing these things and so much more, how could I possibly be anything else? Above all, I'm a Mormon because I know God wants me to be one.

How I live my faith

I know God loves me and is interested in me and my life as if I were the only person He had ever created. I show Him my sincere but imperfect love by keeping His commandments. I live my faith by getting up each day and striving to be better for Him than I was the day before.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Angie
Missionary work is important to Mormons because we have "good news" we want to share with others! I currently have a son serving a mission in Texas. He worked all through high school at the local recreation center putting 50% of his income in a savings account he created for his mission. I have another son who has submitted his application for mission service and is waiting to receive his mission call. He has worked at a variety of jobs--mowing lawns, teaching piano lessons, tutoring children--in order to save money for his mission. He also decided to save 50% of all income earned in order to pay for his mission expenses. Missionaries serve missions at their own expense because they know they have an awesome message to share with others--a message about Jesus Christ and His Atonement and our Heavenly Father's great plan of salvation which allows all people the opportunity to return to Him.
