Hi I'm Mallery

I grew up Catholic until I found the pieces that were missing, now I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm finishing my last year at college for Art Education. I want to make a difference in kids lives by teaching them how art is everywhere around us and can be expressed through numerous ways. I feel it is important to have outlets. We need to be transformed to other worlds that can take the stress away from school, work, finances, family, friends, deadlines, etc. If I'm not at school you will probably find me running or at the gym. I love any and all sports. The number one thing that excites me is an adventure! Whether it's rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, or camping I'm the happiest little kid in the whole world because I'm outside enjoying God's creation. There is nothing like watching a sunset over the lake or looking up as the snow gently falls.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always a Mormon. From the time I was born until I turned nineteen I was a devote Catholic. I attended Catholic grade school from K-8th grade. I've never doubted the existence of God and the infinite atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ, but there was also something missing in my life. While I was applying for college the only school that had the specific program I wanted was Utah State University, this was no coincidence. My first year up in Utah I was surrounding by all these "crazy" Mormons, as my grandma would say. To me they were not crazy, in fact I realized they were the only smart ones! My baptism was bitter sweet, I knew what I was doing was right, but my family did not. They did not attend my baptism and still feel strongly against the church, but I have faith that one day they too will come to the truth. It is not easy being the only member in your family, but the Lord will strengthen you. The Holy Ghost has witness to me over and over again the power of the Book of Mormon. The Lord answers every single one of our prayers, it may not be in our time frame or how we would like it to be answered, but He knows the time and He knows what is best for us. Everything in life comes down to faith, trust in Him. Believe.

How I live my faith

Part of knowing the power of the Book of Mormon is trying to get through my day without reading it. If I overslept and didn't have time to read my scriptures in the morning, my whole day feels different. The scriptures are my energizer battery. I need to be recharged in the morning so the Holy Ghost is with me throughout my day. Through the scriptures I learn how to deal with the hardships and challenges life throws at us. Life is not easy, and it was never meant to be. If we go through it alone it is unbearable, but if we choose to listen to the guidance of the Holy Ghost and feel of God's love we can get through anything. I give lessons to the new members in our church. I've never felt the spirit so strong as to when we are teaching and learning about the Lord's plan for us. I live my faith by being an example of our Savior, who showed love to all. There is no greater feeling than receiving and giving love. It has the power to overcome any obstacle.
