Hi I'm Tonia

I was born in England and have lived in Australia since 1972. I am a primary school teacher in Queensland. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married for time and all eternity to my husband whom I love with all of my heart however he was called home suddenly last year. It was the most devastating event of my life I miss him everyday. Knowing we will be together in the eternities allows me to carry on living a full and happy life. I still have so much to live for, I am a mother of 4 children of my own and I have 3 step children. I have one granddaughter and 4 step granddaughters. I love them all very much. They are my reason for living. I am a primary school teacher currently teaching yrs 6 and 7. I love my job it is the most rewarding thing. There are many challenges and even the smallest successes are rewarded and celebrated. I was born in England and have lived in Australia since 1972 and in Queensland since 1974.

Why I am a Mormon

When the missionaries knocked on my door I was at a very low point in my life. I was a divorced mother of four struggling to get by. I didn't think very much of myself. I had been looking for the right church for many years and had some questions that needed answering. Other religious organisations told me things but they could not tell me how these things could happen. I found my answers in the Book of Mormon and could not wait to join. Since joining the church I have discovered how important I am because I am a daughter of God and He lives and knows me better than I know myself. I found a wonderful man, we married and were sealed in the temple for time and all eternity. I know that Jesus Christ lives, He is my Saviour and Redeemer. Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ in the grove of trees and restored the gospel to the earth in its fullness. The book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and an account of his dealings with the people of Lehi who left Jerusalem and lived in the promised land on the American continent. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true and living prophet on the earth today. The doctrine of the church is true and correct and by living by it's precepts you can return to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for all eternity. You can live with your family forever. This knowledge is the greatest gift in my life. I do not care to think how my life would be without my Father in Heaven and Saviour Jesus Christ leading and directing me. I remember how sad and angry I used to be and not a very good friend. I am so glad that I treat myself more kindly and my friends as well as people I meet in general. I am a Mormon because it gives my life meaning and purpose, I have learnt to serve others with joy and love and have learnt how to return to live with my loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live the my faith by trying to be an example to others through the way I live. In my ward I am currently serving the sisters which is an enjoyable and challenging but ultimately rewarding responsibility. I have only been in this ward since January and was called to teach some of the children about their Saviour Jesus Christ. I now have the opportunity to get to know and serve their mothers as well as the other adult sisters in the ward. We take care of each others spiritual and temporal needs through this organisation. We have a program called Visiting Teaching, the sisters are assigned a companion and they visit a number of sisters each month to share a gospel message and to ensure that they are okay. They report back to me any concerns they may have so that we can help each sister stay strong in the gospel and cope with everyday life and its demands. We have activities which are designed to strenthen our bonds and to serve. I attend the temple each week which strengthens me and my understanding of the gospel as well as my resolve to be better than when I entered. I try to be a positive and helpful person to all I come across as each and everyone of us are children of Heavenly Father. I try to follow the example my Saviour set in the scriptures through his life of selfless service. I try to ensure I make time read the scriptures daily and attend all of my meetings so that I can gain more knowledge of my Saviour and Heavenly Fathers will for me. I know that through prayer I can have precious truths revealed to me and feel the comfort of my Father in Heaven through the Holy Ghost.
