Hi I'm Makayla

I'm a writer. I'm a musician. I'm a photographer. I'm silly. I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to write and read and take pictures and play music. I am extremely passionate about learning. I truly believe you can learn something new every minute. I love learning about science and cultures as well. I love my family and love spending time with them when I can. I play my purple violin in my schools Chamber Orchestra. I volunteer at least once a month with my cities Teen Advisory Council. I sing along to songs on the radio. I can even roller blade to the library (how cool is that!) :-)

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. My family taught me my entire life. But when I was twelve years old I did not believe in the church, I did not believe in love- I did not believe in God. I felt so alone in the world. I wanted to die and a few times I got very close to suicide. Some people disagree with me saying this. But it is the truth. I don't know why but one night I was reading the bible very late at night alone in my room. I came upon John 14:26-27"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, Whom the father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." It was like suddenly turning on the light in a dark room. All of the sudden I felt the love of God like a vibration through my soul and entire body. I knew at that moment that he does exist, that he loves all of us, and that we are his children. So I changed. My change did not happen over night. But It did happen. I was able to stop my negative actions. I was able to come from hating life to loving it. And now I know that the most powerful thing is love.

How I live my faith

I am the secretary of the Mia Maids (14-16 year old girls) at church. This means I have to be an organized person, when most of the time I am not exactly... :-) I love doing it though. It gives me the opportunity to befriend and help other people that I normally would not. I also try to live what I believe everyday. I have friends at school constantly ask me why I don't curse, or do drugs and alcohol, and things like that. I am able to tell them I don't do those things because I know life is more than that.
