Hi I'm Sam Cowley

I'm an Ivy League trained corporate lawyer, mountain biker, American history buff and proud father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Midwest playing and watching every sport and being intrigued by the great men and women in American history and by their willingness to make tremendous personal sacrifices for the good of the country. I studied law and worked in the Northeast for a few years until finding a more balanced life in family-friendly and recreation-friendly Arizona. I spend my time making a living to support my family, biking and running in the local foothills, and enjoying the journey of life and relationships with my wife and children and extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith and membership in the Church give me (i) a way of engaging my mind and spirit in approaching and feeling closer to God; (ii) a peace that comes from understanding the role of the Savior and His gift of forgiveness; (iii) a clarity and understanding about life, which give me direction and help me to prioritize and make judgments; (iv) a source of strength for dealing with the complications that arise in life; and (v) rewarding and supportive interactions with other like-minded brothers and sisters, which uplift and give hope to me and members of my family. My faith has been reinforced at various times throughout my life in specific and personal ways. I have felt profoundly the influence of God's hand in my life.

How I live my faith

I am involved in working with and teaching the youth of our congregation, in ministering to the special needs of members of our congregation and in helping manage the administrative affairs required for our congregation.
