Hi I'm Collette

I'm a wife and a mother of 5 incredible children. I'm a book-lover, a volunteer, and a problem solver. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Provo, UT, the oldest of 4. Since we were in the process of moving to Arizona when I was born (arriving 2 months later), I feel I can claim my rightful status as a 5th generation Arizonan. And while I treasure the rare times I have to curl up with a good book or jam on my treadmill with my music blaring (I'd be deaf by now if it wasn't for the fact that this IS rare), my greatest joy in life revolves around the quality time I spend with others. To me, making a genuine connection with someone is what life is all about. I definitely am who I am today because of what I have learned from others. I love to discuss ideas, learn new things, quilt, organize, play tennis, ride bikes with my kids, & play games. I have a passion for efficiency, U2 music & really, really good food. I love to laugh, I love the Arizona heat, & I love a good movie. I’ve even rented the theater for a few Harry Potter movies, not just because I love the books, but because I believe every great moment in life should be shared with those you love. And I happen to love a lot of people! I also love a challenge, which is why I enjoyed school. I always knew I would go to college, but I also knew that being a mother would be the most important job I would ever have. I got my degree in math & computer science, taught high school, & “retired” early to have my beautiful family. We have 5 amazing children, with 5 very different personalities – this is the biggest, & most rewarding, challenge of all.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of this church! Living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ simply makes me happy. I was born and raised in the Mormon church and I have always been grateful for my testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ and how He blesses my life on a daily basis. My relationship with Him is very real, very tangible, and I feel His guiding hand in my life every day. He knows what is best for me and I know that I can overcome each and every trial I am given, and that it will be for my benefit and progression. I love knowing why I am here on earth, where I came from, and what’s in store for me after this life. This knowledge gives me purpose and direction as I try to be the best parent, wife and friend that I can be.

How I live my faith

Every day I strive to be a little better than I was the day before, and to do what my Heavenly Father would want me to do. It’s not always easy, and I fall short just about every day, but I have hope for a better tomorrow and know that with my Savior’s help I can accomplish all that I’ve been given to do. As a family, we attend church every Sunday. We also pray and read scriptures together before school each morning. We are often reading through half-open eyes, but it is always worth it, and sometimes we even have meaningful discussions and profound teaching moments. Our favorite family activity is our weekly family night, where we each take turns planning activities and treats and teaching lessons. Personally, I love to study my scriptures. My day just seems to go better when I have taken the time to ponder the teachings in them. I also love to serve wherever I can. I am happier and more grateful for all that I have when I serve those around me. Currently, I serve on a youth orchestra board with some amazing men and women who truly want to make a difference in young musicians’ lives. In my church, I serve in the girls’ youth organization. Is it such a blessing to be able to serve the youth and to feel of their strength and goodness.
