Hi I'm Stewart

I'm from Georgia. Music is my passion. And guess what? Yeah, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am grateful for my parents who raised me as a Latter-Day Saint. I grew up in Illinois and my family moved from there to Georgia when I was young. Music has always been a part of my life since I was old enough to work a CD player. I enjoy singing, playing tuba, trombone, baritone, piano, guitar, bass guitar, and most recently, ukulele. I believe that music is a way to communicate to teach others about what you know, feel, believe even if they don't speak the same language as you. I know music is one of the many ways we can learn about God and is a wonderful way to feel His love for us and know He is there.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended church every Sunday for as long as I can remember. Because of my parents and good teachers at church, I grew up having a personal relationship with God and Jesus Christ. As I got older, I began to challenge what I had been taught. One day when I was about 17 years old, I realized I had never actually read the whole Book of Mormon. I began reading the Book of Mormon on a Monday while I was at a summer camp. All week long, I spent a lot of time alone reading through the book. As I read, I felt very little and was not very impressed. I finished the book on Thursday. I knelt and asked Heavenly Father to let me know whether or not the Book of Mormon was true. When I finished my prayer, a group of kids from my church who were attending the same camp started singing a Mormon hymn. As I sat listening to the hymn, I could feel the Spirit fill my entire body. In my mind I heard a voice confirming to me that Joseph Smith had been called as a prophet and that the Book of Mormon was everything he claimed it was. Since that summer, I have re-read the Book of Mormon multiple times. Every time I read from it, my answer that I received when I was 17 is reaffirmed. The Book of Mormon has helped me understand Christ's sacrifice more. It has brought me closer to my Savior and has helped me change my life for the better. I know that God lives. I know He sent Jesus Christ to suffer through the atonement so that we have the opportunity to repent and return to God. I also know that God currently calls Prophets to teach us and guide us to Him. I know that the same authority that Christ holds has been given to this church. I am so grateful for this knowledge. I means more to me than anything else I know. It means God really does care and will not leave us to struggle on our own. I know that anyone who takes the time to sincerely read the Book of Mormon and pray about it will receive the same answer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a friend to everyone. I strive my hardest to love everyone the way I know God loves them. I am a firm believer that God answers prayers through other people and I never want to miss an opportunity to serve my Savior. I do daily scripture study and prayers. I currently serve as a part of a committee that plans, prepares and runs activities for my local congregation. I have served as a scout leader, a secretary for a local bishop, and have served for two years as a missionary in Colorado Springs. My participation in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has brought more joy and happiness to my life than anything else has.
