Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in Washington, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have so many interests and hobbies and I'm constantly coming up with other interests to pursue. I have always loved to cook, bake, sew, read, take photos, craft in various ways, and write. Several years ago I taught myself to knit, crochet, kayak and now I'm learning about bee keeping and trying to learn Japanese. My interests are very varied but I'm always trying to learn new things. I'm an aspiring photographer and I have 2 jobs in the community helping adults who are developmentally disabled. It can be very difficult at times, but overall it is a very rewarding job. I learn so much from them and advocate on their behalf to help them have independence, quality of life and to have self-worth. I try to find good in people and treat others with kindness and respect. I try to be a good example and help others in any way I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS family, and I can honestly say that I would be lost without that foundation. I've had so many examples of what it means to live righteously, honestly, and virtuously. I have always felt a sense of purpose and I'm thankful to know who I am, why I am here, and where I am going. I am so grateful for the knowledge that my family can be together forever. It provides peace and happiness to know what our purpose in the life is. To know that we will be blessed when we choose the right and that we can have the gift of the spirit with us when faced with difficult choices. I am grateful for our Savior and the sacrifice that He made for each of us. I know that no matter where we are in our lives, no matter how deep our despair or how hopeless we feel, the gift of the atonement can always reach us. Heavenly Father wants us to succeed, He wants us to return to live with Him. He is merciful and true to His promises if we do what He asks of us. Growing up I had many friends who made choices that made their lives so much harder than they needed to be. I made promises to myself at a young age that helped me avoid the same temptations my friends weren't able to avoid. I knew I would be able to lead a fuller and more happy life if I followed the commandments and council of our church leaders.

How I live my faith

I try to live each day in a way so that when the time comes for me to account for my life, I will be able to say I did my best to live righteously, to do all I could to follow our Saviors example. I interact with many diverse people who aren't members of the church and I try very hard to be an example and good friend. I understand that it's important to listen to people, to help lift them up, to be genuine, and kind. I want people to know that they can trust me and that I would never do anything to intentionally hurt anyone. I want the best for everyone around me no matter what their situation, beliefs, or choices are. I know that the pathway to true happiness is through the light and knowledge of the gospel and I want to share that with as many people as I can. I love providing service in any way I can. I feel a sense of peace when I'm able to help another person improve their circumstances and their life. I'm involved with the youth at church and I love to be around them, they are such great examples and I feel very blessed to call them my friends. I love to see their faces light up when we get together for various activities. I know how important it is to have good friends who are positive, who bring out the best in you, who push you to be the best version of yourself.
