Hi I'm Laura

I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in southern California and met my future husband while we were both attending college. We have 8 amazing children, ranging in age from 18-34 and our family is continually growing with the addition of 3 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law and 7 grandchildren, soon to be 10. My greatest joy is spending time with any and all of them! My hobbies and interests are pretty domestic, which makes sense considering my love of home and family. I like to sew, read, work on family history, garden, organize anything, and enjoy the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I think I have always known that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of God. I never felt pressure from my parents or anyone else to go to church or participate in the programs but I knew that it was the right thing to do. I had direction and a purpose in life, which many of my friends didn't have. I knew I had a Heavenly Father who would guide me in making the right decisions and would help me in times of trouble. This has been a constant source of comfort to me throughout my life. When there are so many voices urging you to do this or that, it's reassuring to know what is right and what is wrong, what is true and what is false.

How I live my faith

I am an active participant in the programs of the church. Currently I teach the women of the local ward once a month about Gospel Principles. Before that, I was the president of the Young Women's organization. I have served in the children's organization, with the music, and in the church library. Each calling is a chance to serve as well as learn new skills and talents. At home, I study the scriptures regularly, pray and try to live the standards of the church. While my children were at home, we'd read from the scriptures together every day and pray together as a family. Family Home Evening was always a part of our weekly routine also.
