Hi I'm Onan

I was born in Jalisco, Mexico but grew up in Georgia, USA. I am number eight of eleven children. I am a LION and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Onan. I am 22 years old and I love to stay active. My favorite sport is the world sport of Soccer (or as more commonly known to the world as a whole: Football, or Futbol). My other favorite pass times include attending a gym and lifting weights, getting out in to the fresh air and hiking, going for long runs, reading good books; I especially enjoy reading the Book of Mormon, or anything else that in its nature is good, praiseworthy, or worth my time. I come from a large family; I am number eight of eleven children. I love my family more than anything in the whole wide world, they are my support and true source of lasting happiness. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints precisely because I love my family, and I have come to know that there is no other institution in the face of the planet that will help enable a person to love, cherish, and make the most of his family than the very institution established and restored by our Lord himself; truly this is God's restored church. Want to find out for yourself if this is true? Ask the missionaries, they will help you.

Why I am a Mormon

Like already stated, I am a Mormon because of family. Any sane man would agree that family is most important above all other things in this life. Then why not join the only institution that will enable a family to be propelled together, forever in a never ending road to happiness and progress? After seriously evaluating my personal desires, and after considering the path in which the world is headed as a whole, I realized that "going with the flow" was never going to get me where I wanted to be. The Book of Mormon stood as a beacon of light, guiding me towards God's church. Only after reading it, and by following the counsel contained in Moroni 10:3-5, did I come to know the truth. Knowing God's truth is refreshing and gratifying beyond explanation. To all who do not know yet, we say, "please come" and "learn of yourself the truth".

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by striving to learn obedience and self mastery. Truly, if a man could conquer himself then he would have conquered the world. I am currently serving a Mormon mission in Ft. Worth, Texas and it has been a wonderful experience thus far. I will continue to serve until I am released on the end of May, 2014. This has been a journey of service and I have learned much about myself that, frankly, I could not have learned by staying home. In a sense, I guess you could say that I try to live my faith by always striving to obey the Lord's commandments, and striving to overcome all my trials with a smile, because I know that true growth only comes after trials, hardships and pain; The bright morning only comes after the dreary night, food always tastes sweeter after hungering, indeed happiness is most enjoyed after knowing misery. So, through trials and temptation I try not to give into fear. I know that if I "canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth."(Mark 9:23)
