Hi I'm Wade

I'm a husband, a father of three, a scoutmaster, a biochemistry professor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Though I have never had much talent for team sports, I have always loved the feeling of pushing my body to the limits. When I was a college undergraduate, a friend and I bicycled from Seattle to Los Angeles. We saw some of God's most beautiful creations and met some great people along our 23-day journey. As a biochemistry professor, I love the experience of meeting a new group of ambitious people, twice each year, to share with them the beauties of the elements. A few of these students work with me in the laboratory as we strive to understand the functions of the human brain and how they are derailed in Alzheimer's disease. I marvel at the intricacies the human body and I pray to the Supreme Creator to understand it a little better each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a solid knowledge of the following truths: 1) God lives and he loves all His children. 2) Jesus is the Christ and the Redeemer of the world. 3) The Book of Mormon is as it claims to be, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. 4) Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God and he was the first prophet of God since the apostasy that followed the martyrdom of Christ's apostles. 5) Christ continues to guide the Mormon Church, or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, by revealing His will to a living prophet. I gained my sure knowledge of these truths by following the counsel in the New Testament (James 1:5-6) and in the Book of Mormon (Moroni 10:3-5). Both passages are promises from God, that He will answer every prayer that is offered in faith. My answer came as feelings of peaceful assurance and I continue to feel peace and joy as I study the scriptures and pray daily.

How I live my faith

Everyone in the church fills a responsibility that they receive through a Bishop who is directed by God. Currently, I serve as the scoutmaster over twelve 12-13 year old boys. My life is blessed as I work with these young men because they help me forget my own cares and have fun. Aside from that, I just strive to be a happy person and spread joy to those around me.
