Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up all over but mostly in Texas. I love books and games. I am a true Texan and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a military brat and so had the opportunity to travel all over Europe while I lived in Germany. I enjoy visiting other countries and trying their food, seeing their sites, and learning about their culture and history. I am a son and brother, and always enjoy a good game of basketball. I want to go to school but don’t know what for yet, and I love riding my bike, in fact I once went on a 350 mile bike ride with a bunch of youth my age. Most of all though I love serving my Savior and always strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church I did not always know why I went or what the purpose of it all was. Like everyone else I had to ask my Heavenly Father to shed forth His light and illuminate my understanding. I found my growing testimony of Jesus Christ as I was praying on a mountain with a few of my closest friends. It was then that I began to realize the importance of following the Master and applying His teachings to my life. I have continued to grow my testimony over the years and am firmer than ever now. I also had the opportunity to pray about the Book of Mormon and the prophet Joseph Smith. Through the spirit I received confirmation of the divine origin of the Book of Mormon and the knowledge that Joseph Smith was a prophet called by God to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. It is through the spirit that I came to a knowledge of these things and it is through the spirit that my knowledge of my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ, continues to grow. My Testimony is simple. God lives. Jesus Christ, the son of God, lives and leads and guides us through a modern prophet. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and does go hand in hand with the Bible to testify of our Savior. I also know that anyone who wants to know for themselves only has to supplicate themselves before the Father and ask Him in prayer. I bear my witness of these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live it by spreading it and invite everyone to learn more. Currently I am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am called by a prophet and set apart 2 years of my life to help other people come to the knowledge of their Savior and Redeemer. I help people in need and am always looking for opportunities to serve, and have wholly devoted myself to Christ and living by His example. When I return however I will continue to show my devotion to Him by fulfilling the callings he has commissioned me to do by being the best husband, father and teacher that I can be. With the Help of Jesus Christ all things will be possible and He will help me live my faith.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Jacob
A testimony is something that comes over a certain period of time and is gained through the manifestations of the spirit. It can be as simple as "I know that God lives or "I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet" or can be made up of many more things. It is founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and is used as an instrument to help others come to the same knowledge. The power of a testimony is not in the words themselves but in the spirit that bears witness to others that what you just stated is true. Show more Show less
