Hi I'm Darla

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a retired single divorced proud grandmother of nine. Since retirement I have discovered the fun of water arobics and spending time with the grandchildren. I set up one of my bedrooms as a play room so that when every any of the children come over they head right to that room so see what they can play with this time. I also find that community involvement is very important and try to keep up with what is going on in the neighborhood.

Why I am a Mormon

I first learned about the church when I was a teenager of 13. My mother had read a book about those weird Mormons and what they believed. She found out that she agreed with the Mormon beliefs especially about the need for a prophet today and started seeking. Lo and behold she found an uncle who had joined the church. The problem was that it was harvest time and as farmers we were very busy and so told the missionaries to come aback in six months. They didn't, so mother found where the church was and sent me to scout out the what it was about. At that time there was no turnings back. My mother, father, two brothers and my self were all baptized shortly thereafter. We were very poor and need white clothes to be baptized in. My father had bought a trunk at an estate sale and it was full of parachutes. My mom then made her and my dress out of the white silk material. So I tell everyone I was batized in a parachute. I have had many hard times since that babtism day and have found that what keeps me centerd and together is the knowledge that I can and do receive personal inspiration and revelation to help quide me though the easy and the troubled times. I find the scriptures and the guidence from our past and modern day apostles and prophets help me to not only for large decisions but for everyday living. I love my Savior and and happy to say that I know my Redeemer lives.

How I live my faith

Right now I am the president of the women's group in my ward (congregation) and feel a close sistership with those women. I try to not only be a good example by attending my meeting but to make my self and my home a spiritual place to be. As the only active LDS person in my immediate family I aim to be a good example for my family and show them unconditional love. I read the scriptures daily to give me strength, peace and knowledge. I attend my church meetings to feel the goodness of those around me so that I can strenghten my own faith. I am active in my community and hope that I am an example of how neighbors should be to each other.
