Hi I'm Ann Grimes

I'm a stay at home mom and try to be as involved in my children's lives as I can. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have five children, three in college and two in high school. I plan to return to college and complete my engineering degree after my last child leaves home. I love reading mysteries and I enjoy going to the Zumba class at the gym when I have time. I do not like house cleaning, but I do it.

Why I am a Mormon

As a youth, I went to many different congregations of different faiths and tried to find one that felt "right". As an adult, I was introduced to the teachings of the Mormon church. Initially I felt comfortable with its teachings, and even though I did not understand everything, I went on my feelings and joined the church. Over the years, my testimony and faith have grown and strengthened and I can truly say that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as the Mormon Church is Christ's true church upon the earth. There are many, many truths that have been lost over the centuries that have been restored by the Lord through His modern day prophets. The Lord's principles and values are unchanging and I am so grateful to have His guidance and direction through personal revelation and through the teachings of all His prophets, both past and modern-day. This revelation is essential in making the choices for myself and for my family that will ensure our future happiness.

How I live my faith

Each family in our ward (congregation) is assigned "Home Teachers" and each woman is assigned "Visiting Teachers". I have Home Teachers and Visiting Teachers assigned to me and I am a Visiting Teacher to a few women in the ward. The responsibility of the Home and Visiting Teacher is to contact their families at least once a month, deliver a gospel message and see how they are doing. When times are tough, you can always contact your home or visiting teacher for help and as a home or visiting teacher, you reach out to help those you serve. I also serve as the ward canning specialist and a family history consultant. I arrange canning projects to help the families in our area, both those who belong to the church and those of other faiths, to increase their self-reliance by increasing the food stores they keep at home. I also work to help individuals to research and connect themselves with their family trees and to extend their knowledge of those who have gone before. We perform sacred ordinances in the temple that connect (seal) individuals to their immediate families as well as those of their ancestors . Family History work is crucial for obtaining the information needed. Because our deceased family members cannot do their own work, we do it for them, in their name. We believe that those family members are able to accept or reject this work. It is their choice, but if they accept it, they are able to be eternally sealed to their beloved family members. So far I have been able to seal my grandparents, great grandparents and many other relatives to their parents and children.
