Hi I'm Samm

I am a senior in Highschool, photographer, guitar player, I secretly want to be a comedian when I grow up, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a senior at Cumberland Valley Highschool and I am seventeen years old. I am the youngest of five children. I used to be on the school's Waterpolo and Volleyball teams, but now I just enjoy playing those sports for fun. I am very much into photography and hope that someday I will be able to own my own business. I also love painting and drawing, and basically anything that allows me to show my creative side. I taught myself how to play the acoustic guitar and also write my own songs. I am addicted to running, and pretty much go on a run at least once a day. My mother, one of my sisters, and I have a goal to run a 5K race in every state. So far I only have two states down, but i'll get there eventually. I am a very happy individual and absolutely love my life. I love my incredible family that helps me get through every day, I love my wonderful friends that understand me, and I love belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints. :)

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon makes me completely happy and content with my life. Knowing that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me, despite my flaws, means the world to me, and is so comforting. I have had multiple personal confirmations in my life that have made me know that the LDS church is true, and I will never forget the feeling that I experienced during those moments. I am a Mormon because I love what the church teaches. I agree with all of it's teachings whole-heartedly. By listening to the prophet that we have on the earth today, I learn so much and I love being able to have prophets who can recieve modern-day revelation and guidence for us.

How I live my faith

It is very difficult to be a teenager in the world today while holding up to the standards of the church. But even though its hard, the rewards outweigh the negatives by FAR. I live my faith by being an example to those around me. I dress modestly, I keep my language clean, I keep myself morally clean, and I obey the Words of Wisdom. When I'm invited to a party and there ends up being alchohol or other innapropriate activities going on, I leave. I don't allow myself to be put in situations that will make me question or re-think my standards. I know that the church established these standards to keep me safe, and I do not want to break the covenants that I made with my Heavenly Father.

What is being a Mormon like?

It is very hard at times to be a Mormon, especially in a world where immorality is in every corner. When people in my school find out that I can't swear, or that I left the party when kids started bringing out alchohol, or see that I always dress modestly, they often judge me. But I don't mind. Being a Mormon has given me strength and control over my life. Even though it's not "cool" to have high standards in today's society, it has made me happy. Knowing that I am a daughter of God makes me want to remain morally, physically, and spiritually clean. I know that if I keep my standards, I will be extremely blessed in the hereafter. Being a Mormon is like a breath of fresh air. Going to church every Sunday with people that you know love you is a great feeling. And knowing that I have the truth in my life is an even better feeling. Show more Show less
