Hi I'm Mark

I was mostly raised in northwestern Washington State. I am a husband and proud father of seven wonderful children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First, and formost, I am a husband and a father. All other things I do are aimed to help me fulfill that job better. I love spending time with my family. One of the greatest blessings that comes from being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the knowledge that my family is eternal. I can be with them forever. I am a business Performance Management Consultant/Leadership Coach. I work for a great company that affords me the opportunity to work with people in a helping capacity in various places around the globe. I am currently working with an organization in Northern Germany. I have a special love for Germany and its people because I had the chance to serve the Lord from late 1981 to early 1983. I taught the gospel as a missionary at that time. It was a sacrifice in that I spent my own money (and my parents') and I put off everything else going on in my life for that time period. However, there is nothing else I could have done that would have been more profitable for me. I learned to love people, I learned to give of myself, I learned the German language, and, most importantly, my testimony of Jesus Christ grew. I also gained a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon. There is a power and a spirit that enters people's lives as they start reading it. I have seen hardened people begin reading from its pages and they have softened before my eyes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints. Throughout my childhood I was a bit different from many of the kids I knew because of that affiliation. But I really liked that difference. I was constantly reminded by others of those differences. People would ask me, "Why don't you drink or smoke?" or "Why don't you swear?" But that was oftened followed by something like, "I really respect that." The Church has given so much meaning in my life, where friends of mine wander through life wondering why we experience things we do. I have been through a divorce which was one of the most difficult times in my life. My love of the Savior and my understanding of the Plan of Happiness is what got me through that chapter of my life. I learned some things about myself and why we experience difficulties. And now life is a wonderful thing. I have been married to my wonderful wife for 20 years, and we are blessed with wonderful children. Life is good, in large part because of our membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and our mutual commitment to Jesus Christ. I love my Savior and the sacrifice He made for me to be able to enjoy the blessings of Heaven.

How I live my faith

I serve the Lord and the members of our ward (congregation) and community by teaching a class at church about the basics of the gospel. I have served in many diffferent capacities in the Church. Every one of them gives me the chance to serve other people and to forget about myself for a while. King Benjamin, from the Book of Mormon, taught a sermon about service in which he said "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, Ye are only in the service of your God." That is a scripture that my family has chosen as a motto. My wife and I try in many ways to teach our children of the value of serving other people.
